many of your population still hate Yanks because of the reconstruction period and when a Yank moves in they commit sensless acts of vandalism, and even go so far as to harm pets?? I am of the south and was taught early it was OK to flatten a Yanks tires but since then traveled the world and realized this is a sickness ( am pretty sure this practice caused a fatality) christianity should have cured by now.

What say you. Are you not aware or just do not care, hopefully chuch members are not part of the problem.

Being born and raised in Louisiana, I have seen the racism that you are talking about. I have always gone against it, long before I became a Christian. I think people are taught to hate from generations prior. I think a person who has a loving heart has the option to join (which I feel is totally wrong), or to step out and love their fellow man no matter what race that might be. There are good and bad in all walks of life.
There have been strides and changes in different parts of my state, such as the capital city of Baton Rouge has a black mayor, which is an accomplishment because in the 1980's that would never have been heard of there! There are also mixed races attending churches together. So I feel Louisiana is on the right track. It isn't completely abolished but I do see that these steps are a positive step forward.

I was born and raised in the deep South, and I'm a born-again Christian, and yes, rednecks abound. These are the racist, white supremacist, "the South will rise again" jacka**es who give intelligent and thoughtful Southerners a bad name! I have no doubt that you observed this type of behavior. Probably some of them are churchgoers, b/c Christianity is more of a culture than a religion for many in the South. Yes there are genuine Christians (I am!), but everyone goes to church. It's what you do; it's not an issue that's up for discussion. As a result, hypocrisy is rampant. (Not that it isn't in lots of other places too.) Many Southerners talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk. And as for it being a "sickness that Christianity should have cured by now" (to quote you), I think it's more of an issue of stupidity, not sickness. And even Christianity can't cure stupid. :\

i was raised in northern Georgia half of my life and then my mom moved us to Kansas where she was from and i never have heard that. it must be how you were raised . my southern family were very deep rooted they had cotton Fields land upon land and even there own church which is still in use today which is 127 yrs old. and if i was going to learn something like that it would have been there . and if that kind of thinking does exist that is really said knowing that people think its still 1800 . people just need to be thankful and get over it that WE LOST the war CZ it could have been worse for us southerns since we lost we could have been made in to slaves just like in any other country if you loose a battle you will either die or become a slave just be thankful that we live in the USA and not somewhere else.

I was born in South Carolina but my family taught me that bigotry was a sin. Hate of races is a disgrace that should not be but only Jesus can change a heart. Unfortunately you cannot legislate morallity.

It doesnt matter if a person says he or she is a Christian which will automatically make them a good person. Thats bull. It is all about respect and understanding no matter what culture or background or sexuality you come from.
