Sounds to me like he's an arrogant tosser. You're better off without him. Why did he give you his number if he didn't want to go out with you?? It probably hurt his pride that you didn't call the very next day.

First things first, stop playing games. You guys met, he gave you his phone number, you wanted to call but didn't (what is that "pushy" statement all about???) now this mess on your hands.
If you wanted to see him you should have called. You should never have made up the lie about being busy, it sounds like he was not worth the effort. Now, since you didn't call he thinks you are playing games with him (and you are). Everyone thinks his statement was rude, I think it sounded like a defensive child.
When he made the comment instead of running away from the situation you should have looked him in the eye and asked him what he ment.
I think you goofed up more than he did. Let it be a lesson learned. Next time call him if you want to or just leave him alone.

I guess he has his hand full at the moment, and he does not have the time to build a new thing until he finishes the business in his hands.
I came across such types, who go out fishing one day and as soon as they get a catch they stop fishing until the catch goes away. They start finishing again.
Typical sales man approach, don't put much thought into him.

Oh what was his problem, obviously he thought that he was God's gift and you were supposed to call him and swoon at his feet. I think that you are well rid, at least you found out now, rather than later. However in my opinion he seems a tad strange

lily is 100% rt
u had ur chance and u blew it. thats what u get for playing games.
i would think u r a trick a**.
if he can't count on u calling him. he thinks he couldn't count on u in a relationship.
he probably thinks ur a player.
i would have told u to step off. if i wasn't good enough for u to call then i am not good enough to go out.
u see i know ur reasons cause u told us. he doesn't know the real reason. woman think they have to lie and cover things up.
u should have told him the truth

Stupid, insensitive idiot!!!!! NO, he's not worth it!!!! He never wanted a relationship with you anyway, he made that clear. No1 deserves such things to be said to them. I guess he just wanted as much out of you as he could get without actually having a real relationship with you. IDIOT!!!

Hurt you didn't call and it sound like you only asked him out so you could smooth things over and he felt like he is not a charity case.
