ALWAYS MONEY! You can always wrap it in a big frilly box if that makes you feel better.

Every single wedding I go to I give a card and money. A newly married couple could always use money especially if this is both of their first times. Money could be used maybe to oay off the wedding, or extra cash on the honeymoon, maybe the bride and groom are planning to buy a house. Money is always appreciated. It may not be the most thoughtful gift but it is definitely the most economical. Also I would suggest to not even buy a gift certificate because I'm not sure of the exact number but their was a thing on yahoo the other day about how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in gift cards that are still unused from last Christmas. It's the number one gift in the United States and apparently nobody even uses them. But if you want to put a little bit more thought into it then maybe find something special that you think would mean alot to them both. But I am getting married in June and I set up a honeymoon registry online becasue I am trying to send the message to my guests that we want money without exactly saying it. Maybe that is what your friends are trying to do without exactly saying it. If you know their parents maybe you could ask one of them. They would know for sure what the bride and groom what. Good Luck! and Have Fun!!!

Give cash or a check in a card. $50 if you are going alone or $75-$100 if you are bringing a guest. Make sure you hand the card to either the bride or groom.

Do you know their colors? And just how close are u to them? If you are crafty take and make a pic. collage of photos that you have taken or take some new ones and put it in a frame use some dried flowers or silk of their colors, and put their wedding announcement, wedding invitation in there it is personal and everyone can use a nice wall hanging some where in their home.

I'm assuming that you want gift ideas...if they haven't suggested anything, the best thing to do is just give them money. Find a nice envelope and write them a check...$100-200 usually is the best choice.

By them an experience they can use sometime in the next year. Over here, Virgin offer all kinds of one day experiences as do other companies. Just a thought-it's what I'd want myself LOL.

Failing that, be nosy see what they could do with in their new house that you would be happy to buy :-).

Practical stuff is always appreciated. Gift cards to big retail stores like Target, Walmart, or whatever is in their area, or even to grocery stores. No it's not terribly romantic, but you can get a nice hallmark card or something. If they haven't registered anywhere, I wouldn't try to come up with something household-y, because they may well just not need anything like that.

You can't go wrong with something useful for the home. I would go to target and get them a nice set of wine glasses, or something with candles or even a throw blanket(great for winter which is coming up)

If they don't have a registry, I'd suggest giving money or a gift certificate so they can pick out something they need for the house, or have money for the honeymoon.
