The key is to find out why you desire to over eat. I know that from my own experience, it was sort of a self-medicating thing. Ultimately, I realized that the food was not helping me in the long term and it only led to more problems. I have a long history of depression and my weight has yo-yo'd quite a bit. Last year my troubled marriage finally ended and I had to releive my stress somehow. I learned that exercise was better for making me feel less depressed. So, it not only makes me look better, but it helps to manage my mental symptoms as well. Believe me, it is still a struggle to fight the urge to eat a quarter of a gallon of ice cream at once, but I tell myself that I have the control - not the ice cream. A scoop is all I need most of the time. Excercise increases the endorphins (feel-good hormones) and can actually be addicting once you find the time. 20 to 30 minutes a day 5 or more days a week will give you many health benefits, physically and mentally. Maybe Dr. Phil's site or Fitness Magazine websites could help you.

If you eat 6 small portions of food throughout the day then you will feel satisfied more often than say 3 larger meals less often.

Your body goes looking for fuel every 3 - 5 hours so you need to feed it.

The less you feel hungry the less likely you are to eat the wrong foods.

It is good idea to eat in this way to keep your sugar levels more balanced.

Another good tip is to eat something light before you go out near supermarkets, eateries etc anywhere food is sold to lessen the chance of eating the wrong foods because you may be enticed by the smell of food or you may be tempted to buy and eat something you shouldn't as you are hungry.

Here's a website with some great tips on healthy eating ideas.

Its not really about self discipline, its more about programming your brain and eating the right stuff. The more junk food you eat the more junk food you'll wanna eat. The stuff is loaded with sugar and other chemicals designed to keep you coming back for more. Keep active. I know youre probably sick of hearing people go on about the benefits of exercise but theres one thing about it that not many people know. And thats exercise has the effect of balancing out your blood sugar levels. This will make you less hungry and you just wont eat so much. Try eat food thats unprocessed i.e. stuff thats natural. Things like brown rice, quinoa, kidney beans, lentils, chicken, turkey, fish, tofu.....basically anything that consists of one ingredient only. If you eat carbs and protein together at reular intervals throughout the day and you get some solid exercise(running, training with weights)your blood sugar will be rock solid and you wont eat more than you need. Keep an eye on when you eat aswell. I mean be careful about eating out of boredom or in response to stress. If you find yourself doing this try come up with an alternative activity, something simple like going for a walk, anything, so long as its simple and doesnt stress you out. This is the programming end of things and if you do it often enough pretty soon instead of eating in response to stress you'll go for a walk instead

Sitting. not clone of brilliant on the settee observing t.v., yet sitting in meditation. that's a Zen project even though it fairly does artwork. take a seat for 1/2-hour an afternoon at the same time and concentrate on your respiration. attempt to keep your concepts sparkling. there is also yoga or martial arts. once you've a problematic time sticking to it, you may connect a classification. for sure, you may want to be disciplined, so the finest project to do is to discover some thing constructive that you want yet that is also a project and get into the habit of doing it. self-discipline is laying aside prompt gratification for lengthy time period benefit - maximum extremely to attain peace of concepts. So fantastically a lot each and each and every time you may positioned off prompt gratification (ingesting extra slowly, not procuring some little luxury, etc.) you're on the line to attending to understand self-discipline.

My mother always said "eat whatever you want as long as you're naked in front of a mirror" ... but then, you still have to make yourself get up and take off your clothes in front of the mirror.

Some people say hypnotism works. You might want to try that.

Also, some psychologist I've read about thinks that people get fat to hide something about themselves and they can improve through healthy relationships where they can reveal their true selves ... not sure about that, but maybe join an exercise or weight-loss group or something for the moral support. Seeing other people succeeding might be enough to motivate you and increase your determination.

Many ideas. Yoga is supposed to help one to become more aware of ones body and therefore you are less likely to overeat etc because you develop that connection. Weighing yourself every few days or weekly and graphing it can also create awareness and has some proof of helping people naturally cut back. Treat depression if needed. Seeking a more healthful life in terms of job and relationships-food often fills other unmet needs. Its not all about controlling yourself more understanding oneself.
There will be ad rug coming out soon-already in Europe I think-a combo of a wellbutrin(already used for depression and smoking cessation) and a stadol/narcan like drug(anti narcotic/anti- craving drug) that may help also later on.

sometimes we eat according to how we feel, do not follow your feeling, feeling are ficke they are apt to change just eat properly, concentrate on the good things you will feel much better. Ask yourself why do you eat certain food,s you might be lonely or something else stressed out hurt and trying to make up for it with food, food is not the answer. search within yourself.
