What's the biological and psychological reason for this?

It's a reflex, a defence mechanism, in order to protect your lungs from taking in foul air for too long and polluting the air circulation system inside you! And then, also to protect your stomach from foul intake, as the smell induces puking and prevents you from eating the foul stuff! The Brain 'impressions' and the Mind reflexes together work towards safeguarding the Biology in you!

when we eat something bad, the diaphragm is triggered to force throwing up.
when we smell something bad, the sensory system can interpret it as being swallowed and has the same reaction. Just a protective instinct

Because if something smells bad to humaans it is probably something they must not eat, so the stomach reacts to make sure they will not eat it.

WEAK stomachs...it just doesn't appeal to us when something smells bad. But yet we can stand the smell of our own "crap", but we can't stand anyone else's...I don't get it.
