I had the same dilemma when my children were at this age. The only alternative that worked for me was that I took them to a baby sitter. It is very hard to try and sleep during the day since our body "clock" tells us it is not normal to sleep during the day. Some of the things I did were: I made sure that the temperature of the house was around 70 degrees since I do not rest well if I am too warm. I took aluminum foil and put over the window to darken the room. I also disconnected that blasted telephone that would ring everyday and wake me up once I finally fell asleep. When all else failed, I started taking two benadryl or would take 2 tylenol p.m. tablets. Eventually, my doctor put me on ambien so I could actually sleep. I hope some of these ideas work for you.

I was the same way for years when I got home late. It's because you were working and when you get home you need to relax before sleeping. I did that shift for years. I started sleeping better when I got some herbal tea and just went into a dark room to make my self tired after working.

The artificial light from the computer screen (and even your phone) can reduce melatonin (the sleep hormone) production in your body. Try taking a melatonin suppliment. I take 1mg melatonin on nights that I can't sleep and it works like a charm! The only downfall to taking melatonin is that if you take it every night your body will get used to it and you will have to increase how much you take. I try to only take it occasionally. I also love hot tea containing camomile to help me relax. Sleepy Time Tea with honey is wonderful. :)

You are probably getting overtired. Cant you arrange someone else to watch them in the morning so you can try to sleep as soon as you get home...either that or meds as the 1st answerer suggested!...;

See a sleep specialist because to go without sleep is not healthy. Have you tried a Tylenol PM? Is your room dark?

You need a sitter and you need sleep. It's dangerous to leave children unattended for even minutes. Get real. You are taking a risk with their lives. You also need a real job.
