First, are you English, or are you asking that you wish to know more of the English language, if you are not English, a foreign friend of mine, self taught, made a vow that he would learn three English words a day, checking what usages they had and the correct way of pronunciation, the same could apply to an Englishman, set your self a target , get the Roget's Thesaurus and discipline yourself to go through a page a day, you will retain something of that which you read each day, there are other publications that would help.

The best way is to join an 'English as a Second Language' (ESOL) course.

In addition try any or all of the following:
- listen to BBC World Service radio or watch BBC World TV
- listen to a talking book recorded by a native English speaking actor
- read a good quality English newspaper (Times, Independent, Guardian) online
- keep practicing.

Good luck!

I think the best way to improve is to live in an English speaking country, read as many magazines , newspapers and books as possible so you can get better at your own English. Watch English speaking programmes and soon you will pick up better conversational English. Good Luck.

Watch more English language programs, read more English books. Practice makes perfect.
You might probably hear this if you'd asked anyone, but thats the only way to learn langages.

Guys, can you help me to improve my English? for starters. All you have to do to improve your language is speak English to people you are good at it and let them correct you. What I did to improve my German was to go on chat rooms and speak German to people and if I get something wrong they correct me. Try speaking English in your head instead of your native language that's assuming that English is your second language. Try writing in English and let someone you is fluent in English have a look at it.

If that doesn't work you can always use yahoo answers to check your spelling.

you could go onto english chat rooms that only have a few people in and sit there with a dictionary. I did that as revision for a french exam and I ended up getting an A!! Wooo! The internet rocks.
