ozone layer or ozonosphere, region of the stratosphere containing relatively high concentrations of ozone, located at altitudes of 12—30 mi (19—48 km) above the earth's surface. Ozone in the ozone layer is formed by the action of solar ultraviolet light on oxygen. The ozone layer prevents most ultraviolet (UV) and other high-energy radiation from penetrating to the earth's surface.

Ozone is an Oxygen molecule with 3 atoms (O3)instead of 2 (O2). It's usually produced by electrical energy such as lightning and it's toxic in heavy concentrations. If you've every smelled a funny sweet smell around a laser printer or copier, it was probably ozone created by electrical discharge inside the machine. It does break down into O2 molecules fairly quickly but high humidity will slow this process. In the atmosphere, it tends to collect at a particular altitude (heavier molecules push it up and lighter molecules float on top of it) and thus we have an Ozone layer.

Ozon or ozon layer is a part of Earth's atmosphere with high concentration of O3 moleculs (3 Oxygen atom attached to each other). Its acts as a filter for UVa & UVb waves, which are harmful to us (and also for other lifeform in ths planet)
