since i dont have the knowledge of how to build a hogan can i build a ceremonial house like it? one that i can use my own blessings on, you know make it my own?

because i really like the idea of the Hogan but i just cant make one the wrong way that would be dissrespectful to the Navajo's but i would love to have one in my religion.

what do you think?

teepee's are used by the crow,
and i dont find them very spiritual like i do the hogan :) thanks anyway!

You can build whatever the damn hell you want to.

There are a few cultural taboos associated with hogans:

1. You always want to enter from the left and walk to the right. back-tracking is considered faux pas, so you generally want to keep the circle moving around the center of the hogan

and

2.Should a death occur in the structure, the body is either buried in the hogan with the entry sealed to warn others away, or the deceased is extracted through a hole knocked in the north side of the structure and it is abandoned and often burned. A hogan may also become taboo for further use if lightning strikes near the structure or a bear rubs against it. Wood from such structures is never reused for any other purpose by a Navajo.

Maybe a Tipi, I know it is not a Navaho hogan but it is a native type of structure.

i think you should visit Shiprock, New Mexico and meet some Navajo, visit the reservation and see how one is built. they seem fairly simple.

what is a hogan, is it an image of that wrestler hulk hogan, it is a sin to make images and worship them, i hope this isn't what you are going to do... :)
