I'm not a conspiracy nut, but I dont think that the person who in effect in charge of the world is someone we know.
On a global scale, probably Bill Gates is one of the most powerful people as he does have a relative monopoly on most O/S in the world.
You can argue a few other things about who 'runs' the world.
You have your secret societys who must command some power to a scale which is unknown - The illuminati, The la le lu le lo (i didn't make that up, lol), the priory of sion, the link is to find the change of command within these orders... and that to most is impossible...
I do think it is a little nieve however to think that George Bush 'rules' america as so much as Tony Blair, or Putin, or any other foreign country elected or dictated leadership.
Presidential candidates are already in a way 'sponsored' by the millions and millions pumped into their campaigns by investors who probably want something in return at the completion.
Would it be too much to say in theory or hypothetically that Bill Gates payed certain people in high places to ensure that the law suit against Microsofts monopoly was unsucessful?
as i said, i'm not a conspiricy nut, but i think the real power lies in people who do not enter the scenary of politics or media.

I'm the Queen. Why? 'Cause I said so, I'm freaking Queen. (FYI: this works the same way for 'The King')
