Part of the message that Jehovah's Witnesses try to bring to you is that this wicked system of things (which is in the hands of Satan) is going to destroyed (as in the days of Noah - Matthew 24:39-39) and it is going to replaced with a new system, a paradise as God originally intended.
This is good news. Don't you like good news?
Like in the days of Noah, there will be many that won't survive though. Many because they simply didn't listen. So from a Jehovah's Witnesses point of view, they are doing a life-saving work because they love God and people.
They don't want any to be destroyed along with this system.

It's a bit like if I was passing by your house and saw it was on fire and you were sleeping - wouldn't you want me to try my best to wake you up and save you?

The JW's are programed to do that. Maybe you are not aware that the JW's are a book and publishing company called the Pennsylvanian Tract Society. They publish a total of 20 million Watch towers and Awakes a month and the members have to buy these at £1 each to distribute around the doors etc. There HQ is turning over £20,000,000 + a month as this does not include any donations made by the public for the magazines.
Very nice business to be in but totally misses the point and gets right up people's noses.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not try to force their religion on others, they are simply doing what is commanded in the Bible at ACTS 10 vs42 to "preach to the people" and at 2 TIMOTHY 4 vs 2 to "preach the word". They are just trying to find people who are interested in the message that they preach and calling house to house is the most effective method of doing this.

If you are really bothered by them calling on you, you could ask to be recorded as a "DO NOT CALL". Your address will be recorded and you shouldn't get any more visits.

I can't speak for Mormons, as I have no knowledge of their beliefs. It is interesting to know that other religions started preaching from house to house and some are planning to do so in the near future.

The only religious people who knock my door are Jehovah Witnesses. I have to say they have never tried to force their religion onto me and they are always polite and friendly. I simply tell them I have my own beliefs and they accept that.

It doesn't matter what religion you are, but if you allow yourself to be put under any sort of pressure surely the remedy is in your own hands.
Just assert yourself politely, say that you're not interested or whatever, and close the door.
Jehovah's Witnesses will take a note of your address and won't bother you again if asked.

I completely understand how you feel. Although I'm a Hindu and don't go around knocking on doors, etc, I still have others who want to convert me. I have Christian friends who often get other Christians from other denominations trying to convert them to their denominations. They get annoyed of it, too. And no matter how many times they say "I'm already a Christian" it's like they don't hear it and they just keep on going.

Maybe they're trying to fill a quota or something.

Dear djdrooq69,

The two most common groups i can think of that knock on people's doors are: Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. Both are religions that claim to be Christian but are so quite different and far from the teachings of Christ and thus are classified as cults.

My suggestion is to study up on what these religions believe and the next time they talk maybe that can be an opportunity to share with them the truth about God. Off course you should study a bit more about what you believe, why you believe it... i would suggest some books from your local Christian bookstore, or if your church or a nearby Bible college offers a course to study so that God can use you to share His love with others...

Kindly,

Nickster

I agree, why should people be allowed to do this? I am all for people being able to follow the religion of their choice but trying to force it on others is completely wrong, mature discussion and debate however is healthy and should be welcomed. Maybe when the government brings in a bill about Religious hatred it might be made illegal?

do the people who knock on your door actually force their religion on you??? I've never come across such, i only hear them preach whatever they have and if i'm interested or have the time i listen, but if i'm not interested or i'm busy i tell them to leave. So be honest, were like held down, forced, your face shoved into what was being said, shouted upon...???
