I believe the churches as we have known them are being dissolved, having served their purpose. Humanity is entering and age of spirituality where miracles will become a daily way of life.I.E. moses striking the rock for water, parting the red sea, manna from heaven and all the things jesus did,he said these things i do you will do & even greater.

I think a lot less people are turning towards the church for comfort and understanding. With access to sooo much information these days compared with 40 yeras ago people are looking at other religions and beliefe systems. I think there will always be a place with the church, but the church is not fullfilling the needs as much as they could because of excess information, excess choices, different ethical issues taht are popping up and these are causing people to put the church aside. People are asking complex questions these days that the clergy are struggling to answer.

I am a Hindu, living in India. I have deliberately chosen to answer questions from persons outside India. The question is of interest to me and I hope you will not mind a non-Christian's resonse. I understand that christianity does not hold much attraction for people in Europe. It is only in the US, which accounts for the largest number of the christian population in the world, there is some religious fervour. That is not a good news for all the spiritual minded people. The reason for the disenchantment with religion is the perceived contradiction between the teachings of the church and science. Both are now treated as two different water-tight comparments. I have no quereel with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Much of the interpretation of the Bible, by the church are faulty and have no basis in the teaching and life of Jesus Christ. St.Paul has laid the foundation for the indoctrinaire approach of the church and the christians. He has forbidden the christians from intermigling with other fellow religions lest they are "polluted". The Pope is more concerned about "harvesting" more souls than undoing the wrong theology on which the church is based. The previous Pope had apologised for the treatment meted out to Galileo. Their hands are full of blood. No amount of apologies will wash them. With this faulty ideology, which obviously does not satisfy the existing christian population, they want to go on proselytisation of more and more people from the developing world. No doubt, there are many who are falling a prey to their machination in this part of the world. It is not out of compulsion but out of an obligation created on the gullible and poor people's mind, by the force of organisational ability bringing in economic assistance and promises of job etc. I do not even mind proselytisation. What happens to the existing religion? In India, Hindu faith has been reigning supreme from time immorial. There was never any feeling of 'church' dying. In the Muslim rule in India, many were put to sword as 'idolators' for sticking to their faith and most of the Moslems in India and Pakistan were the descendants of the Hindus who were converted under the threat to their lives. In spite of this threat and the internal problems, and the tensions, arising out of such factors like Caste etc, this religion has survived. Many western scholars have vouched for the eternal truth in the ancient teachings of the rishis or saints of this religion. Those saints had considered the entire humanity as their family and they had no reason to lie or misinform the public with any ulterior motive. The ancient Hindu wisdom is secular, although couched in religious language, and is meant for the entire humanity. If the church wants to 'harvest' more numbers into theiry fold, so be it. Let them know that they are doing a great disservice to the entire humanity. Do they want to throw the baby with the tub-water?

no... the church is actually growing in Asia.. like China, Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore.... my church grew from hundreds to ten over thousands in a few years..
i believe in western societies, people are droping religion, but there are also people that are going back to religion after being years of atheist.. and most western people will still go back to the church since western civilisation and christianity are strongly linked..
the church will not die simply because other religion is rising..

however, one point to note is that the priest and the pastors are important in the correct teaching of Christ..many church are not teaching it right, and the results is poor understanding and poor faith of it's people.. therefore, people leaves as easy as they comes...

Quite the contrary, the church is growing by leaps and bounds. Although the devil and his followers want you to think differently, Jesus is still alive and well and so are His sheep. I know that
many would not like for the Church to succeed but God is not limited by human wants. May God Bless

Dear Oli4p,

The Bible does teach that in the end times that men will more and more become lovers of self and selfishness will always take away from the sacrificial church that Christ wants.

In that sense-- there are many churches that are struggling. At the same time- we know that Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore, and there are also many churches that God is blessing and working powerfully in their midst.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

You are the church, I am the church. I am maturing in God. What people think church is, is not church at all. Religion is not church.Church is those of us who love God and obey him. Yes the cons have started to sink. Peter started to sink when He took his eyes off of Jesus and we will too.The church is walking on water and we are watching the liars sink. I got out of that ship. God told me to build a boat.

there is a slow evaporation of religious institutions, it is most obvious in the rich and highly educated societies of western Europe and other rich countries, and since most of the population of these countries is originally Christian, the effect on Christianity is clearer. however, the power of faith is diminishing in most countries, with very few exceptions, mostly ex communist countries where religion was more or less forbidden and now people select to worship again, another exception is of course Muslim theocratic countries, like Iran, where the state enforces people to be religious.

NO, it is actually getting stronger, there are more people going in my area than of recent years, we should all go, the majority of us want to and quite often Sunday is our day to have a lie in so can't be bothered, we should bother, lets all make a better attempt at building our community, it doesn't have to cost, thats up to you if you wish to leave a donation.
