Ok, this happened ages ago and I just remembered after someone posted a topic on a forum. Anyway, 3-5 years ago, me and my cousin had just bought a $20 walkie talkie set and we were keen to try it out. Well we did, around 11pm at night and we kept hearing muffled voices even when no one said anything. The voice was quite jibberish and not clear at all. All radios and phones were off. Te voice kept appearing every few seconds or so and lasting the almost exact same amount of time. We got freaked out and turned it off. We tried again almost everyday and everyday there was that same voice. Anyway, I'm thinking it's radio interference, but why would radio intereference last that long?

Hehe, the walkie talkie only had a max range of about 20-25m. There are hardly any kids around my cousins neighbourhood. We tried it for a week, and we heard the same thing in a different location, funny thing was, we only heard it at dusk. And like I said, this was ages ago.

When dealing with radios... keep one thing in mind.... radio signals can "skip" back in the CB days it was considered a challenge to see how far you could talk on "skip"
Basically the radio signal gets caught up bouncing off the atmosphere and clouds.... and will travel great distances.... with a very weak radio such as a walkie talkie.... these signals would be so weak you would not be able to understand a word spoken..... the fact that they continue.... simply means that there were simply people still talking on radios that were strong enough to get their signal out.... but that your walkie talkie was not strong enough to fully bring the signal in.

I can tell you what it is. The signal is probably being used by a company that has scheduled events on their daily routine. Things like security or the engineers who do routine system checks. The company may have dished out a few bucks for a repeater, a device that picks up and boosts the signal. You're probably sitting on the edge of the repeaters range and picking up a simple operations call that is going back and forth at the same time every day.

I will ring your doorbell and run away!!!

it was most likely that someone had their walkie talkie set to the same frequence, but was far enough away that their voice didnt come in clearly to you,,,, in business, they are used alot by construction companies and department stores, are two i know of, so i would bet it was that, as opposed to anything supernatural

They may have been picking up on other walkie-talkies....two-way radios....even baby monitors---- I guess it could have lasted that long if they were in your general area.
