I know about that thing that when some kids won't go to school, or their parents won't let them, they can hire teachers to come at home and make their classes there. But I haven't heard of this lately. So is this still available now? Or not anymore? If it is available, then of course, you have to pay, right? Then how much would it cost? Please, answer! It's urgent! I really need to know this until Monday!

It's hard to determine if you the parent or possible a teen.

But in both cases, if you have the funds, you can hire tutors or go to co-ops.

But if you are tight on funds, there are curriculums out there that you can work at your pace and possibly get help from the company.

I did alot of research on the internet before I started teaching my kids because they both have different learning styles. So find out if the the child is a visual, auditory and/or kinesthic learner.

For starters, I like Math-U-See because it covers all three learning styles. (mathusee.com)

If you are teen doing this alone, perhaps you can join another homeschooling family for awhile until you got a routine and feel you know what you are doing.

If you are a parent and depending on the child(rens) ages, there are curriculum out there where they work independently.

We would like to help you more.

Tell us more. Are you the parent or a teen?

I have homeschooled quite successfully for 4 years. I believe most states provide for homeschooling. It is growing and growing in popularity. And the reasons for homeschooling are as varied as anything. My goal was to make sure my son was educated. Where I live, it was my opinion that the school was failing him even though he was doing fine by their low standards. My son enjoyed homeschool, tested quite well on government tests all schools administer . We were both ready to integrate him back into public school, since he only has a few years left. Tragically, and thankfully, he is advanced for his grade level, (and I consider him a wonderfully average student) and we both know he is there mainly to enjoy the social life and for the sports.

I have heard that some children who are failing at public school shine with homeschool. Look on internet under homeschools or independent studies in your state. That is how I got started. A teacher comes anywhere from once a week to a couple of times a month. I designed the curriculem based on gov. standards and the teacher was basically there as a guide. They can set you up with a curriculum themselves if you wish. NO COST TO US AND POSITIVE RESULTS. Worth trying, but takes some dedication from parent and child. Homeschooling not for everyone. Hope this helps. By the way, he is socially well adusted, so homeschooling didn't deprive him. We made sure he had outside sports and other things of interest he likes.

Yes, you have the legal right to educate your own kids. In fact a teacher friend of mine did that with his own kids a few years ago.

He was disillusioned with the type of behaviour and education in normal schools -- something that, as I teacher myself, I can't really dispute.

However the government has the right to stipulate the curriculum and to set the examinations.

The government may also, and likely will, insist that the kids are taught by a qualified teacher. Your best bet might be to try to hire a retired teacher or perhaps a recent graduate. They might be willing to teach a very small group for perhaps half of a normal teacher's salary.

Haha .. yes it is still available but the prices range on a huge spectrum. Depends on where you live and will the tutor or teacher be for all subjects or just one? What age is the student?

Home Study...Contact the school. SOme teachers are doing part-time..Or if not, try reward and punishment. Reward your kid with gifts that are hard to refuse if they complete a week of school if not punish them by not buying anything like toys. It worked for me...

They're called tutors. You have to be filthy rich. It's legal in most states, I believe. Otherwise, people who keep their kids at home just opt for home schooling.

Homeschooling! My brother was the same way and they almost sent my mom to jail for his truency. She started homeschooling him and everything was cool after that. You have to have a high school diploma in order to homeschool your kid.
