^ months age my husbane and i were in a accdent. He was killed and I was disabled. We almost lost oue home, there weere times I had no food for my kids and the insurance co. was jerking me around. I tried to get help, went to my church, christian help groups and chairaties. No one wanted to help.. The woman next door found out and came to help. She got my a good lawyer, paid him a retainer out of her own pocket, she is on ssi. Took me to a food bank and paid my electic bill for 2 months. I had been mean to this woman becasue she was a pagan I thouht her evil. Her and her group, not sure what its called help me more than my fellow christians. I hve quit the church I was at and I'm now going to one that really helps it people. I can never become a pagen but they were the only ones that had the"christian sprit". They gave without asking anything in return. I know I was wrong and these people as as much chance as I do to go to heaven. this woman and I are now good friends

Christians these days seem to have very little heart. I am ashamed of most of them and I now wonder how I could think of most of them a brothers and sisters.

I am a good hearted christian. I may be naive, but I would like to think that Christians are kinder because they have Christ in thier hearts, AND ACTUALLY LIVE THAT WAY!
I can only speculate, but you are now humbled by this person and now love her with the same love God has for her. There are no favorites on this planet, we are all equal

This is a good question. There are real Christians! And then there are "wanna be" Christians which are only the ones who show an appearance in Church, (usually spending more time telling their kids to behave and not get their Sunday cloths dirty) meanwhile they don't really hear what the pastor is saying, because their minds are on the "potluck" lunch AFTER church. These are the ones who are not saved and who have not accepted Jesus, because if they have been, the Holy Spirit would not have let them treat you as they did without extreme guilt.
I am a real Christian and this is why me and the group I belong to don't go to church, but instead have service at my father-in-laws house, as he is a minister, and we read and study the Bible and pray and sing songs of praise. Not all Christians behave as the ones you described. We would help anyone in need, as we already have.

I won't mention Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot . I won't mention Margaret Sanger or the agnostic Batman shooter.I won't mention the Unibomber who blew up people. It would be nice if atheists stopped talking about the Inquistions. I mean no one is doing this stuff these days and there have been enough splits from Catholicism that it is basically a different religion. I am not responsible for every crazy thing a televangelist says. I don't give these people money. I don't watch them. If a lunatic schizophrenic loses it and kills and says God told him to do it, it has little to do with following after the teachings of Jesus. A crazy is a crazy. Some people decide against murder after they become Christians . This is the truth. I know criminals who stopped shooting people and robbing them because of Jesus. Maybe atheists have similar stories. Christians have their own crazies who lose it and kill people. It does seem that atheists may be more efficient at creating larger death tolls. Stalin killed more than Hitler.

My friend, First of all, I do want to express that I am so sorry for your loss of your husband and I am praying for the LORD to heal these wounds. I am even more upset over the way you were treated by those whom bear the name of Christ. Even if these people did not have "money" they could have given you verbal and emotional support and they could have prayed with you. Peter told a lamed person....silver and gold have we not but such as I have, I give unto you.
Jesus told us that if we give to those in need, if we feed the hungry, give water to those that thirst, visit those in prison that we do it unto Him.
Several years ago, I attended a church but when I asked the pastor to talk to a friend of mine that was having very serious problems, he told me that he would be glad to talk to him IF he were a member of this church. It was the last time I went there too. I am now a pastor and I have a ministry called Shattered Men. We do offer to give whatever help we can to anyone we can. We have never turned anyone away that is sincerely asking for help. (Although our help is limited to non-financial means because we have an income of $0.00 although it does cost to run this ministry. We have never asked for anything in return for helping those who come to us. )
Far too often, when someone states what you have said about Christians. I would have to say...GUILTY as charged. I am doing my best to see that this changes. I do have to wonder however, if these people are really Christians or are they Christians in name only? There IS a difference. See the link below

Honey where did you go to church?
My church is nothing like that.
We feed the poor, clothe the naked, visit the sick, become a father to the fatherless.
This is what a real christian church is.
I am so sorry for you,and the loss of your husband.
Don't give up on God or Jesus because the church let you down.
Lead you new friend to Jesus.Maybe that is what this terrible thing is all about.
I have prayed for you.
God Bless you as you seek Him.

mick: Hold your horses !!! You are misjudging all by some. firstly; remember the Parable of the Good Samaritan? That guy down on his luck was you [ figuratively] . The priest and the Pharisee walked by the guy, who was robbed, beaten and broke - helped by an everyday non-Christian [ Sumerian], who came to his rescue. Not all Christan who profess to be Christian are necessarily so. You needed a lesson in humility ( you thought that you were better than this woman who helped you) God worked the circumstances out for you to see your true colours. Christains have to be careful in looking down their noses at others with a holier-than-thou , self-righteous attitude. Jesus love all humans -ever. (Even the neighbour you used to hate) . Look to Jesus not to humans ... you will be let down eventually, every time putting your trust in people. If God chose to use your neighbour to meet your needs and not the church ... well ? Lessons to be learned: Your neighbour is human like we all are and Jesus loves her; The church which failed to help you should take stock of their "Christan spirit"; You can be a good friend to your neighbour and you can also, be meeting the needs of others in trouble.

Whoever and whatever their religion is you are right they helped the Samaritan who was left on the side of the road. But you are making a mistake by judging all Christians with the same rod and ruler. There are some who shoot the wounded and others who really care. I

I am very sorry to hear of your misfortune. I know it can be difficult especially when children are involved and I will certainly be keeping your family in prayer here.
Know this dear one.... not everyone who claims to know him truly does. Anyone can SAY that they are christian... however his word gives us some guidelines to use to recognize Christians... #1 You shall know them by their fruits.... in other words their actions and the way they treat others.
He told us " this I command you that you have love one for another. The last time I looked... command was not a request.
I am very sorry you were treated this way.... but I am happy that you have found a church home that loves and edify's your family.
May Gods hand of healing and comfort remain on you and your family. God bless you

I'm sorry about your husband and I'm sorry your church was no help to you, but you can't put all Christian in the same category as the ones in your church. My church would have helped you, and they would have seen that you and your kids had food. The ladies of our church would have been at your doorstep. Don't give up on your Christian faith, just put your faith in God and He will see you through. God bless!

religion does not define what kind of person you are. a selfish person is a selfish person. a self less person is a self less person. you can be the most religious person, but still be the most heartless a** hole. im sure not all christians are heartless, but ive knoticed many only go to CHRISTIAN charities...why does it matter? doesnt that mean your only doing charity because jesus told you to? shouldnt helping the less fortunate come from the heart?
