Peel the skin off, take out the seeds, and eat.

Slice in half, turn them inside out, get stuck in and just enjoy the delicious taste.....of course, you can cook them as well and make stuff like fig coulis....

Fig Coulis with Blue Cheese.
Chop a couple of handfuls of figs and cook them with about 1/4 cup of water and a sprig of rosemary until very thick, about 15 minutes. Remove the rosemary sprig. Drizzle the fig coulis on a plate and top with a slice of favorite blue cheese....

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

Fresh figs are eaten "as is" (cleaned first in cold water and dried)
You can wrap them in thinly sliced Italian prosciutto and serve as an appetizer or hors d'oerve. Or, stuff them with goat cheese and sprinkle chopped walnuts on top. For a dessert, halve them & put on ice cream the a little honey on top! Bon Appetite!!

No need to peel. Eat them raw or you can make a cross cut in the top, open them a little, put some soft, smelly French cheese in the opening and pop them into a hot oven til the cheese starts to melt. A super starter!

If you really do mean fresh, like they come off the tree, just cut them in half and scoop out the flesh with a small spoon. Eat with yoghurt and hot, strong, sweet, black Turkish coffee for breakfast, preferably in Istanbul ...

When buying them feel them. They must be a little soft. The skin then peels easily and you eat them as they are, fresh and uncooked like other fruit. You may chose to grill them lightly, but it is not necessary just as it is not necessary to grill or bake bananas. It is just a matter of choice but they are delicious just as they are.

Wash them under running water, and I just eat them raw with skin. Unless I feel like cooking them in a little pan with honey and Greek yogurt on it when it's cooked.
