Ok so not really unusual per se but I am travelling abroad for 2 weeks with my 2 year old daughter for the first time next week (myself, hubby, my mum, my brother and little one) and I was wondering if anyone who had travelled abroad before with little ones would advise to take something specific i might not have thought of!

I have the usual of everything; clothes, toothbrush/paste etc, medicines, things to keep her amused like books to read and colouring stuff, sun cream, surprise toy for the pool, familiar toy; but am i forgetting anything that is a little out of the ordinary that you found essential when travelling with a kiddo?

Baby wipes and a spare change of clothes are a must!
I also suggest purchasing a bottle of Phinergen (think I spelled that right!)-it helps to combat travel sickness in children and also causes drowsiness-which will help acclimatize your child to the different time zone if there is a big time difference.
Snacks that you know will fill them up as kids do not tend to like airline food! (But who really does??) And drinks with a sports cap so that they have to suck-thus helping the ears to pop during take off and landing-and,of course, less likely to spill! Lollies are also good for take off and landing-I tend to get my daughter the Cremosa ones as they are sugar free.

Depending on where youre going I 'd say mosquito repellent and something to do on the flight. Air sickness or travel sickness pills and lots and lots of patience. Youre lucky to have your mum travelling with you. Ask her for some advice she'l feel more included in the family have fun !

some kind of pre-packaged favorite snack. If she is cranky or just needs a treat, a well-loved snack food from home can do the trick.
Also good if you find yourself somewhere with unusual foods that a little one might not like.

Bring something for the kids to do.
- Portable handheld computers, board games, books, crayons.
- Pre-packaged snacks and drinks.

i'd say that's a incredibly vast assumption. i'm comfortable with being called a vast. What the hell is the version in any case? Broads that get all labored up over what somebody says on Y!A should be called broads.

Always remember to take the kids themselves. While it can make for a quieter and often more enjoyable holiday, the sense of worry and guilt can override that.

Fold-up stroller,
depending on where you are going and whether or not they have stairs you may want to bring a gate for the stairs,
Favorite snack food if you are going somewhere that it may not be available.

I would take a wooden spoon or large plastic spatula. You have to have something to beat them with when they get out of hand.
