WOW...I have never heard a guy say that! I don't think god is female or male. God is beyond human perception. I feel like you feel kinda like I do, that we are all just vehicles (our bodies). When or if we go to "heaven" we will not be male or female. We will be something we have never imagined in our tiny little brains.

good question,
Kelly

Most dont, but a few do. These all came about after Pagan religions. Religions such as Christianity were formed and spread widely during a period when women were nowhere near equals. Pagan religions worship the balance of nature, therefore a male and female entity. You have to look at the world and society at the time a religion became widely accepted, such as the Christian Crusades.

Technically speaking, God can be referred to as the "I Am" . God claims many titles father, healer, provider, almighty, on ... and on the list multiplies. The title "I Am" encompasses, who God is for the "moment" because "He" is always becoming [growing -expanding] - akin to the ever expanding Universe we dwell in. As soon as we attempt to label "Him" ... "He" has become much ... much more . We will never catch up to "Him" because "He" has had a head start [Eternal] . The title "HE" is only for humans to identify with "Him". What else could cause the change in dating time based on God, in reference to B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domino - In the year of our Lord) ? Must be some "guy" to cause such a rift in history. We all live in A.D. time not B.C. time.

In the Holy Quran's original Arabic text, God is never referred to as he/she. There is a word in Arabic which does not translate to any other language specific to God which people translate as He, but it is not really He. It represents a dominant being who is neither male or female. But because "He" has a dominant connotation in other languages, that is the closest word.

Because all religious books were written by men, and in those time men were superior, there was no such thing as equality. I think it would have been different if it was more in to recent times or it may not. I don't think the sex of God is that important but what he represents is what we should care about. Peace, Love, Justice and equality to all and to all a good night.

Because most (monotheistic) religions were founded at a time when women were basically considered chattel. It was thought that since women couldn't possibly be as intelligent as men, that God couldn't possibly be a woman. Now many people still use "he", but in the grammatical sense rather than the literal.

Men dominated over women. Women were thought of a inferior and were there to make babys. With that mind set how could a women create the world and be God.

God is neither HE nor SHE. God is IT.
God is a power, an energy without sex or gender

I confess, I don't know why some refer to It as He ... perhaps to make "IT" appear easier to identify with? Whatever. Technically, "He" as a reference to God is incorrect.

Probably because men are generally regarded as the stronger sex. Ancient humans saw the earth as the result of lots of work and assumed that the maker must therefore be a man. Just a guess.
