Global warming is a phenomenon brought about by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Examples of greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, etc. Carbon dioxide is produced by the combustion of carbon-containing fuels in car engines and coal-powered power plants, among others. Methane is produced during the decomposition of biological matter.

Greenhouse gases prevent heat which radiates off the earth's surface from leaving the earth's atmosphere, thus warming it up. It can cause the polar ice caps to melt and the sea level to rise, thus flooding low-lying coastal areas. The soil in some areas may also get too dried up to support vegetation and crops and people in these countries go hungry. It also results in unpredictable weather and cause and increase in the occurrence of natural disasters such as tsunamis. It has been documented that the temperature of the Earth has already increased by several degrees Celsius because of global warming, and this is likely to increase at a much faster rate in the next 100 years

The Earth's climate has never been steady. It has gone through countless periods of warming and cooling. The Sun's output has not been constant, either.

Usually, the Earth's atmosphere and bio-systems work to insulate the Earth from changes that are too dramatic for life forms to survive.

In the past, these changes were asteroid impact related. And they were huge.

In keeping with Apocalyptic thought, there is a belief among some that we are overheating the atmosphere with our pollution, and therefore there is a warming trend. We are sinful and will be punished.

Others think that this is a false, anthropocentric belief. In the Middle Ages, for example, the snow line of the Rocky Mountains was 1,000 feet higher. In the 1600's the Earth experienced a mini-ice age. Our global warming is between the two extremes.

Unfortunately, economic and political forces (and greed) override logic and intellect. And so we're stuck with the biggest evil of all time: Man-Bear-Pig. (You Tube it if you must.)

Hey, I lived through the coming Ice Age in the 1970's (predicated on the same sort of dubious data), and I'll live through this one--or I'll die.)

Good luck in the brave new world, where nothing much has changed. Flagellate yourself frequently.

There is only 1.1 % of the atmosphere that is the green house gas. The environmentalist want u to think that the CO2 has increased 30 % well it has not where did it go. CO2 who knows we the earth produce millions of cubic ft. where did it go Go measure it it is not there. We have a friend the green plants that take in CO2 and put out oxygen . that is where it went the plants need the CO2. If we don't have a CO2 problem we do not have global warming.

Global warming has to do with the holes in the ozone layer that grow every year because of the pollutants that we put in the air. Those holes make it possible for dangerous gases to get into our atmosphere. Those gases cause the temperature of the earth to rise more as more and more gases are able to get in. So the warmer weather is said to be melting the polar ice caps, and if they melt then that will make the ocean rise and flood pretty much every major US city as well as several on other continents to flood. Then we're basically all screwed.

Global warming seams to irritate the ocean.it knows it can throw it's weight around to make a difference in it's own favor.

This link will answer all your questions. But, basically, pollution eats holes in the ozone and lets in the suns rays and heat in but won't let it escape and therefore increasing the Earth's temp. and melting the polar ice caps among other things and completely throwing off the delicate balance that sustains life in certain regions.

But check out the alternative theories under causes!
