Well, it certainly doesn't sound good. 14 is pretty old for a large breed dog. If your vet said there's nothing he can do, I think it's time for you to take a look at your dog's quality of life.
I went through the same thing a few years ago with my Golden Retriever. He couldn't walk, wouldn't eat, etc. My dad and I made the decision that the kindest thing to do was have him euthanized. It was hard. But now he's in a place where he has no pain and can do all of the "dog" things he used to be able to. We'll always have the memories and the knowledge that we did our best by him.
I'm not saying that this is what you should do, but it's something you should consider. It's not fair to keep her around just for your benefit if she's in serious pain/discomfort and seems unhappy.

The vet can't help the dog, but he can tell you if this is the end or not. You need to do what is best for the pet. Yes, we love them. And yes, we miss them. But you'll will go on. I thought Stanze the cat was pretty terrific. But she's been gone 2 and 1/2 years. I got a dog in January. That dog is so crazy about me. It feels better than just me being crazy about Stanze. I never thought Stanze loved me as much as I loved her. Tatum does! And it's great! Good luck with your choices. Remember, your pet is depending on you to make the best decision for them. Not the most self-center answer which makes you feel great. I used to tell Stanze that being loved is a helluva responsibility. You've been loved by a great dog. Now step up to the responsibility to evaluating the pet's needs. I had to put my dog Kristi to sleep in 1996. It was hard. I couldn't make the decision myself. I told my granddaddy that I didn't trust my grandma to not be selfish with her decision. I trusted him to be the voice of reason. I said if he said it was time, then it was time and I respected his decision. He's an animal lover and grandma's not. The day Kristi fell in a gulley and could raise to her feet and walk, we put her to sleep. She was 15 y.o. and had a huge tumor on her leg. I took her to the vet. Kissed her on the lips. And said Goodbye. I think her spirit lead me to Tatum. They remind me of each other and are different breeds.

A dogs this length displaying agressive habit is risky and could do some extreme injury. The bahaviorist is a thank you to pass in this one. Boerboels are certainly protecting of kinfolk and sources, yet whilst new everybody is triggering a 'combat or flight' reaction in him, you have have been given project. This breed is often no longer counseled fro amateur vendors....do you have any adventure with dominant breeds? do no longer positioned the dogs down. If something, rehome him. This project could nicely be controlled, yet could be dealt with via somebody with adventure. seek for a rescue on your area. they could be waiting to help.

It sounds to me like it is, especially if the vet says there is nothing they can do. I am suprised they did not suggest euthanisia though. It's a tough choice, but if your dog is your best friend, think of how much better a friend you are to be kind enough to let go. You have to weigh their quality of life against your desire to keep them here. I'm so sorry for your pain, I know how much this hurts. I still miss my rottie I lost 3 years ago.

I know it's a hard decision but you have to look at it as quality of life not quanity. She just needs to know that you'll be okay in doing so, dogs can feel our emotions, just let her know you love her and that you'll see each other one day on Rainbow Bridge. May the forces that be keep you grounded in making your decision and help you to be strong, hugs to you my friend. Bless you!

You need to euthanize her..she is miserable,it is time, and it can be done well at a vets. Sorry. Don't wait so long that it becomes more of a blessing for you than a heartache. You need to grieve.
