No.
It's just crazy to think that someone should be awarded US citizenship for going to jail. We already have too many people in jail. We don't want people coming here, breaking the law and then getting rewarded for their bad behavior.
He should be prevented from being allowed to ever become a US citizen - unless he goes to prison for an immigration violation, in which case he should be allowed to have a hearing - but only if he is entitled to it by law. Also, if he goes to prison and it is proven that he was wrongly convicted of a crime not related to immigration matters, then the prison record should not go against him.

That is ONE of the main reasons that we want immigrants documented. To prove they are not criminals. Spending time in prison is useless because according to the constitution, after commiting a felony, a citizens rights are all taken away. And an illegal should not have had any rights in the first place.

No. We are going to reward him for commiting a crime and be an illegal just because he has to do time?
Our taxes are going to pay for it.
It is bad enough that our prisons now are full of Illegals who have commited a crime while on US soil. They come here from other countries and do not stop to learn our laws. They do as they did in there country and then they end up behind bars and we pay for it.
Others do a crime just to get off the streets. They have learned about the system in America.
So now we are going to give citizenship to prisoners?

why would they give him citizenship? then anyone could just get citizenship to any country by entering illegally. A person on the verge of starvation in Mexico can just run across the border then turn himself in and spend a week or so in jail, then recieve his citizenship. That would be one of the worst possible ideas ever, it would destroy the U.S.

Well that question sort of answers it's self, Because if they are in prison they have already showed that they can't handle the responsibiliy of being a citizen. I mean we already take the privelige to vote away from US Citizens that are convicted of a felony. So why give citizenship to a illegal???

NO!!!They should be deported and never let back in again because it was not right for them to come here illegally in the first place. So if they could get citizenship just by going to jail no one would apply legally they'd just come illegally go to jail then come out and be a citizen.Well that just isnt right.

According to statistics during 2004 there were 3,218 black male sentenced prison inmates per 100,000 black males in the United States, compared to 1,220 Hispanic male inmates per 100,000 Hispanic males and 463 white male inmates per 100,000 white males. About 4% of State prison inmates were not U.S. citizens at year end 2001, and the worst crimes in history have been committed by whites. So if you're going to send immigrants back to their country when they commit a crime you better start saving for all those tickets to Africa and Latin America, but what worries me is, Where are we sending all the white people? Iraq? Besides, many immigrants are sent to jail for stupid stuff, such as not having a drivers license. The reason for their incarceration has to be considered. If what they did was a major offense, than even I would agree in a greater punishment. Oh and Bucky Ruckus, don't wish upon Albertos what was done to you.

NO, he/she shouldn't even be put in to the prisons in our country. It costs $42,764 per year to keep one prisoner in an California State Prison. Our prison system is already overcrowded here and the last thing that we need is illegal aliens taking up our tax dollars and filling up our prisons.

sometimes lazy or poorly organized legislators enact laws blind of the human condition (human dignity and respect is overlooked)
and the results are criminal laws not justified laws . then if the the suffering of the system doesn't correct it like a giant galoot
creature trampling the innocent the legislature is pressured by the backwash of their short sightedness and are forced to revamp the law as it should have done in the first place . so if you respect justice over the foolish enactment of bad law then you will defend the victim and accuse the govt.
A higher moral law supercedes bad law as it should have done in
Nazi germany !
peace out my friend

No, he's still illegal.
Besides, you have to EARN the right to be a U.S. citizen if you are an immigrant. It shouldn't be GIVEN to anyone just because they sneaked across a border.
