Please do not waste anymore of your time thinking about this. Anyone who would answer you like that has no class or taste at all. I'm sure her nephew had a lovely wedding; the main point of the wedding probably being to show everyone else how very fancy they were.
A real wedding is where two people, who are in love, want to get married. They decide on some type of ceremony (inside or outside. expensive or not) and invite people they love to share the day with them.
Good luck on your wedding and I am sorry I do not have any ideas about making a tent.
( I will not go into my opinion on your answerer, who seems to think prayer doesn't matter ).

As rude as the answer was (and very harsh) the person makes some valid points. If you are going to have your wedding outdoors...you can't not rent a tent. The risks are just too high since no one ever really know what Mother Nature is planning. If you don't have the money, then maybe you should rearrange your budget to include tent rental. If you were to make your own tent and something were to happen, i.e. it fell, then the guests who get hurt could sue you or your parents. Again, the risks really aren't worth it.
As for the dance floor...you might be able to go to a home improvement store, i.e. Lowes or Home Depot, and buy large floor tiles or piece together carpet remnants...it would keep your guests off of the grass and gives you the ability to be creative with colors at the same time.

Well she is right about one thing - renting a tent will be cheaper then trying to make one. But, renting a tent is expensive and you can usually rent a small hall for less then a tent, lol. What you could do is find a local hall were you could have your reception if it did rain. many smaller halls will allow you to book them as a back up location. You pay a non refundable deposit, but you only pay the rest if you actually use the hall.
Another idea is a local park. We have one here that has a large picnic shelter - seats about 200 inside! It does not have walls, but it does have a roof and unless the day was also windy, would work well for a rainy day wedding. This particular park is only $60 to rent for a day! SOmething to look into anyway.
And, last butnot least - look into out of season locations. in summer, look for skating rinks, curling rinks, a local school gymnasium etc - that would normally be empty and arrange to have them on hold "just in case".

That is really sad, I'm with you, it seems like the more folks spend on weddings the shorter the marriage (not statistical, I'm sure some of those marriages last forever, just an observation) Do what you wanna do, screw that lady! As far as for a dance floor, why not get several pieces of plywood or MDF and paint them and peice them together in the yard? Just make sure their won't be cracks between for people to trip on...as far as the rian thing, not much you can do but pray, good luck with it!

Wow! Someone's really rude! Regardless of where your wedding takes place, I'm sure it will be lovely and it will be an incredible day, rain or shine. No matter how big or small your budget is, its your day! You can do it however you feel and as long as there's love, who cares if your dancing on grass or on a ballroom floor!
And to answer the actual question, yes I have gotten a couple of those. You can't really escape some of those "wise" people...

OMG! I hate when people do that too. Check out the answer I got to a question I asked this question.
Q.When should I start worrying about getting tuxes for my bridal party? I am getting married in June and am trying to figure out when we should start picking out the tuxedos for the bridal party. I want all of the tuxedos to match except for various vest colors. We are also looking into renting our limousine through the tuxedo shop. They run special promotions like if you buy x amount of tuxes they give you x amount of hours free. So if you or anybody you know has gotten married and would like to share your experience I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Have a great day!
This is what stoner_SAM (what a name huh?) answered.
A. just buy half a dozen of those tshirts with the tux on the front youll be set and for cheap too, cuz thats what marriage is cheap bull ****. waste of yours his/hers, every guest. why bother???
When I read this I was so pissed. I even reported him to yahoo. haha! Well I hope your day goes a little better today!

I swear to you I was just thinking about this sorta thing. If I wanted a stupid answer, I would go to one of the boards that I belong to. Wtf is up with people? Just so you know, backyard weddings aren't halfassed. I lived in Vegas and there were chapel weddings there that looked more classy than some of the stuff I've seen people do "for real." It's all in what you make of it. Best of luck :)

So you're anguish from grammatical mistakes, a speech obstacle, self esteem, or all 3? You are on the whole simply apprehensive, do not fear it'll depart in a pair years. I was fairly shy; I might in no way lift my hand in school, I might continuously simply sit down at the back of the school room and hold quiet, I used to be in no way that social. But now, in center college, for a few cause I am bolder, extra ready to talk my brain. You gets there too, simply cognizance on college proper now.

Do you really need to dance while wedding. What is the sanctity in it? Have a simple wdding in a prayer hall and no demonstrations. You can save the rent and the Tent also. Offer a small party to those who blessed the occassion.
Wish you a happy Married life!!!

Hey there! I had a "halfassed" wedding a month ago and it went fantastically. We used my brother-in-laws house for the reception and the decorations/table arrangements/balloons and party favors where his gift. My sister-in-law arranged the fabulous cake as her gift and our friend was the photographer.
Everyone had a special time and it was a very warm and loving atmosphere.
I really hope you have a wonderful day :)
