Our 2003 ford expedition fuel tank makes ping noise after 10 minutes stopping. What is this?

Took to the dealer and said it is the muffler and will replace the muffler system. Nothing about fuel. Will find out if it works. Thanks.

I think what you are hearing it the heat shield underneeth the truck cooling off
It makes a pinging noise cooling off

When it makes the noise, loosen the filler cap and see or hear if there's pressure releasing. If there is there is a blocked vent line

I would guess it is he fuel return line venting fuel back to the tank. But that is a guess.
