My son went to the doctor's a year back and at the end of the appointment, he was given a sticker. The doctor placed the sticker on the back of his hand. It was of a smiley face! ;)

Problem is, on the way home, he said the sticker was hurting his hand. He's very little so he didn't understand that he could take the sticker off. All he did was complain that his hand was in a lot of pain.

I removed the sticker and he was fine after. No more complaints. Well, it's finally occurred to me after seeing him with a sticker on the back of his hand today that he's had plenty of stickers on the back of his hand before and after this one appointment. What could've caused the pain on the back of his hand during the time the sticker was on?

It could be he was allergic to whatever made it stick or he maybe just didn't feel good and wanted attention from you
I have a 4 yr old and let me tell you they do some pretty crazy stuff sometimes

Most stickers made in the USA have to pass a allergy test and taste and many many other quality tests. Also the sticky stuff in the back of the sticker might hurt when removing the sticker if the child has hair in the area where the sticker was applied.

A skin allergy usually does not hurt. It itches. It may also cause a skin rash. If there was no itching or any development of rash, maybe the sticker had nothing to do with the 'hurting'. Besides the sticker was stuck by a doc and obviously he should have got some decent stickers which have been recommended by the health authorities.

your son could just have had an allergic reaction to the sticker. or posibly it was pressed too snug agianst his skin. which could have irritated it too. children have really ,really delicate skin and any type of chemical on the sticker may have affected him a little bit. since you have seen him with other stickers too then mayb its just the brand of stickers your doctor had!! in the future I advise washing his skin with good warm soapy water to make the sticker come off easyier and wash off any chemicals that might have been holding the sticker to his hand. the same holsd true for fake tatoos ,be careful with children and them because some of the fake inks can irritate the childrens skin, good luck above all else talk to your doctor or pediatrician!
