You did what your instructor told you to do. I'll bet many of the others forced their own visions during the meditation.
That aside, since this was an opportunity to let the imagination go free after asking Jesus the questions, anything could happen, even nothing.
As for your vision, the Jesus you envisioned, was he how you envision him or was he how you think he is supposed to be envisioned by someone else's standards? Perhaps you were not honest with yourself on how you envision him and your subconscious knew that this Jesus that someone else painted for you wouldn't let you connect with him.
Try it again, this time alone and let your mind focus on the Jesus that you feel in your heart. In your solitude, you will not feel pressure to experience any specific action from the Jesus in your meditation.
If the same thing happens, it's okay. Somehow, there is simply a hangup of some kind in your subconscious. It is not the real Jesus refusing to look at you. You may simply need some spiritual growing time. Please don't take that as a bad thing. Everyone needs to grow in their spirituality, it's just a matter of finding where it's most needed.
Gentle blesses to you.

Hi upcomingplayer. It sound like you are involved in a false gospel. My advice is to leave it and find a church or Bible study group that teaches only the word of God, found in His Word, the Bible. Stay away from any Church that claims you can conjure up a vision of Christ. God warns us very clearly about these type's of teachings in Matthew 24:
“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand."
There will be no doubt at all when Jesus returns to Judge the unsaved,(Romans 14:9-11) the whole world will see Him. Christ tells us in Matthew 24:27:
"For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be."

First of all, with these meditations, remember that there is a good part of your own imagination going on with it. Be wary of assuming that this a direct message from God telling you that He has turned away from you.
I can see some possible meanings. Is it possible that you have a fear that you need to confront of God turning away from you? Is it possible that your trust in Him is less solid than it could be?
Is it possible that given the specific content of the Sermon on the Mount, that you are noticing that maybe there are instructions Jesus left for us to follow more fully in His footsteps that you yourself don't feel you are meeting adequately. First of all, with this, (if this is the case) be careful that you aren't wandering into works righteousness. You will never "work" your way into heaven. If that is so, I would recommend reading, Shane Claiborne's "The Irresistible Revolution". For ideas on how you can better live out Christ's instructions.
Don't give up or feel bad. See what you can glean from it and go on.

Please remember that this was only an exercise and not an omen of anything. Maybe, through your own self-awareness and faith you got the answer needed most and not the one everyone expects. I know that a fear in my own heart is that Jesus might not acknowledge me and I do my best to live a christ-like life. You probably know that there are things in your life that need improvement or you do not think yourself deserving of Jesus's attention. Whatever the reason; your honesty and concern are the most important thing of the whole exercise. Keep up the good work and may God bless you.

I totally understand how you feel.....Kind of in comparison to when people speak in tongues at church and you're left sitting there thinking...."Hey, wait...I love Jesus too. I'm a believer!"
Something like that?
Don't fret...I believe your imagination played the part in this, not Jesus.. Think about it. Jesus would "never" turn his head on you...Never! ! ! ! !
Did you ask him a question? No matter...the other people have imaginations as well. You never know what 'really' happened to the others..
Jesus loves you and maybe the instructor might of been a little out of his league by asking you all to do such a task..
God Bless ! ! !

perhaps when you asked your question, you didn't ask it with a true heart. i think after taking the hike all the way up the hill to meet Jesus, if all you asked him for was the best way to make a PB&J He would address you with the same amount of love as any other question. its whats is your heart that makes the answer. ever get an appologie from someone who didnt mean it? Jesus knows when we ask for somethin that we really want or when we asked for something because we saw somebody else do it. what and why are 2 questions normally unanswerd by God. they tend to cast doubt or annimosity in Gods divine work. God knows "why" and "what". if you are following his footsteps the what youe will ask is "what am i to learn from this?" as for the why....good luck with that one..let me know if God answers it for you! but as for all matter aside do your visualization again...but this time dont think about your question until you get to Jesus, then ask Him the best qustion that you can from YOUR heart once your there.

Don`t be too hard on yourself, buddy!
It`s just one mental exercise, and many more later. The thing is...you have started connections, getting near Him...
probably...many more attentions should be focus to others who needs Him most,
while you`re aboard already (acknowledging you) is the best thing to put it for now, and to talk to you more deeply, later.
...or... have you done denying Him in a subtle manner, or choosed satan instead of Him lately... that He was hurt?
Anyway, it is just moment to moment happenings, irregularly...
Jesus/Holy Spirit/God are still the All forgiving, Understanding, Loving, Tolerant to be with. so, just stick with Him, okay?

It could be that you might have low self-esteem, or are harshly judging YOURSELF about something and maybe feel unworthy.
Why not try this meditation again, and ask Jesus why he won't look at you....see what you get. (if you beleive in Jesus, then before you meditate, tell yourself that no matter what you may feel, or what you may have done, Jesus already knows, but that he loves you anyway, embraces you and will show compassion.

Guided meditations are always interesting, but they can be frustrating!
A couple of thoughts. Just my $0.02, maybe one of them will sound "right" or set you off on a path to your answer.
1) Your subconscious was "blocking" you for some reason - either you were afraid to trust that what you were seeing had a message for you, or there is something with regards to your relationship with Jesus that you feel that you're not "good enough" to talk to Him. That may be something for you to introspect on, maybe there's something in your life that you feel you should be doing "better", to be more "worthy"?
2) It's possible the others had a similar experience to yours, but didn't want to admit to it in front of everyone, so they "embellished" their experience...
I would also recommend trying the exercise again in a little while, after you've had a chance to reflect on it. Not to "force" an answer, but to see if you've progressed on your path and maybe will have better results...?
Good luck!

The exercise is really about what you think Jesus would have to tell you,. The other people that do the exercise usually don't say it, but they actively think "what would Jesus say?" and then they tell everyone what they think He would have said. And that's not a bad thing, that's what you're supposed to do. It's not really, "what did He say", but "what do YOU THINK He would have said".
You might have imagined Hiim turning his head because you felt unsure of yourself doing this imaginative exercise. Next time, when you close your eyes and imagine Him, make yourself imagine Him turning toward you and speaking. And try to think hard about what He would say. it doesn't have to happen naturally.
This is just a way for you to think about your faith from a different perspective.
