I have enjoyed fishing for over 25 years. I fish to catch something. If I dont I am pretty disappointed. I just started salmon fishing this year. I caught 2 my first day and I can not describe what a rush it was.

I really enjoy fishing it gets me away from all the noise of the city or the noise from the house. My husband is not the fisher or the hunter so if we want it, I get it. I am not Ellie May off the Beverly Hillbilly's or anything like that I just enjoy a fresh catch and the quiet time I get doing it.

Yeah, Thats about right. It's just quiet and relaxing. Of course it is fun to actualy catch a fish, and, I guess, a bit of a challenge to pick the right bait, tackle, etc. and to show off to your friends, if you do catch something, But it's just nice to relax and get out if the house, too, fish or not.

I think you've answered your own question. The beauty of the scenery, the serenity of breathing quietly in sync with Nature, constitute the quintessence of fishing. BUT the catch is a very delicious bonus.

The most relaxing thing you can do is sit by the water and fish and you are right if you catch anything its a bonus.I think I will go and through a line in and chill out.

I do it for the relaxation and quiet time... not for food or the pleasure of the catch... I'm a big supporter of catch and release... though, it's kinda tuff for me because I spear fish... but I only take what I intend to eat and only over a certain size...

My husband and I use to just fish for something to do. In fact, we only caught one fish in our first five years of marriage!
We moved to the Gulf Coast a few years ago. Now we catch so many fish, I have to say we are doing it for the flounder!
Yum, Yum
