Try! you are very, very welcome. Don't listen to WOLLYwomb & Martin B. As employers, we adore you people coming to our lovely country. Before the Eastern Europeans arrived, employers really suffered trying to get staff. Young Brits don't really like working, or they like to be paid in cash, so it doesn't interfere with their benefit claims. Then there was the many, many, many, many, many, sick days, normally after a binge-drinking evening. So keep trying. WE NEED YOU!

It depends on where you are from. If you are form certain countries, you have to apply for visitors visa in your country, before you come to UK, or they can refuse your entry. If you are not from those countries, then you can just come to UK, and they give you a visitor's visa valid for 6 months on your entry. You should check with Home Office's website to find out which category you fall into.
Also if you are thinking of coming here as a student, worker, spouse, fiance, unmarried partner or dependant, then you have to apply for a suitable visa in your country, before coming to UK, or they can refuse your entry.
I hope that's helpful.

sure, we'll let you in - you can wander around any airport you like until the plane that brought you goes back. The cost of this is borne by the airline in question for not checking that you had correct documentation. Sometimes if people are here legitimately but let their visa expire - then they get deported and have to re-apply. All re-applications is these cases are shredded.

You should get the Visa before you get there.

Try the UK website, I believe as an American, you should not have very much difficulty getting a visitor's Visa, unless you have a felony record.

Pay attention to the rules. Going to court will not solve your goal. You will waste of your time and money. Follow instructions and abide by them. Is it too difficult?

It rather depends on where you're from. You need to be more specific.
