I have a lot of experience with perming my own hair from college and from living overseas. I recommend Vitale perm if you are giving yourself a relaxer at home. It's great for sensitive scalps also. I always give my scalp and edges a good base for extra protection.
When I go to the salon my hairdressers have used Revlon Creme of Nature Perm or Mizani perms. Mizani products tend to be a bit more expensive.
