Sometimes my hands can be sensitive and dry making my knuckles all cracked and sore. I need to get a good lotion but don't know what ingredients to look for and to avoid.

Avoid anything with alcohol or perfume in it....this will only make your sore cracked skin more irriated. I have severely dry skin (my palms even peel) and I use Eucerin or anything with cocoa butter in it. It works wonders!

My dermatologist told me to get something that was cheap, white, and came in a pump bottle. (Most of the ingredients of lotions really don't do anything.)

I personally like St. Ive's Whipped Silk or the store brand equivilant of the fancy 'theraputic' brands.

Lots of people like 'Cornhusker lotion', but the real trick is to simply let your hands soak a bit (like in a tub or shower) before applying the lotion to trap moisture in the skin.

Coco Butter is good for repairing dry skin, you can find it at any store that sales lotion. I cant tell you what ingredients to avoid but you can also try Shea butter.
