buy her a glass (or Chrystal, if you can afford it) candle stick. GIve her one every year till she's 21. When she starts her own home, she'll have a beautiful and touching memory from mom to decorate her own home every year at Christmas

Even though she's a new born, this will be your baby's very 1st Christmas! Ahhhhh, how special! Therefore, I would take the sentimental route and get things in terms of clothing etc that will make great memories and pictures.

Baby's 1st Christmas ornament, outfit, and stocking is a must!Get what I consider to be the most wonderful baby wardrobe item in the world; the gowns where the wrist part flips over and covers the hand! Those are the best!

Again, things for great pics! Family and Friends are like paparazzi when in a newborn comes, so the fact that he/she is a Christmas baby is only going to magnify that fact! Have fun and congratulations!

Buy toys that can be put away until the months before next Christmas and birthday.

A lot changes between this Christmas and next Dec 4. buy toys for 6 months to a year and save them to bring out when the child might show interest in it.

My son was born in November, so I always get gifts up to a year in advance (age-wise) since he doesn't have a birthday soon after Christmas. For his first Christmas we got him things he could use the entire first year. Santa got him an exersaucer. I believe he got the crawling Pooh, the Fisher Price crib aquarium, a learning table, shape sorter, links, etc. HIs stocking had pacifiers, a baby toothbrush and paste, alphabet magnets, a stuffed Xmas Tigger, a book, etc.

I always think of the little stocking with things you'll need for a long time in it - like Baby Tylenol drops, a rubber toothbrush with gum cleanser for later on, a Baby's First Christmas Ornament for your tree, I always like a cute Baby's First Christmas sleeper and/or outfit.

Great idea Clarkie... only one thing... people have their own tastes in decorating and by the time the baby grows up glass candle sticks could be akin to "crochet doilies" and 21 of them could be quite heavy and fragile to lug around not to mention finding a place to put all of them. I love the idea of a memento for each year though! And I like the idea of the gift being pulled out every Christmas. Great idea.

Baby's First Christmas Things....a sleeper, bib, ornament, blanket, plush animal, picture frame, etc. You can find these things in just about every baby department. Wal-Mart and Target have some nice things at really reasonable prices.

A Baby's first Christmas ornament. I know I never got one and wish I had. My brother did and we still have it today and hang it every year. Makes for a good souvenir. :)
