I know several people who are scientists and believe in God. Many of them see that there is more to the universe than can be explained by science.

A long essay could be written about the subject. Many who call them self a scientist or a religious person we know are against each other, but between science and religion I don't think there is any animosity. Science and religion without each other are empty and extremely dangerous. I believe what some scientist don't accept is not really religion but the blind acceptance of sectarians fairy tales. Suffice to say is that today there's not a single true religion in place. What could bring humanity closer to God other than the knowledge of it creation and the application of that knowledge for the good of mankind ? It is not true that knowledge is what make you free ? The spiritual beauties and scientific truths beyond the alegorical tales found in many of the so called "sacret writings of the world" are yet to be discovered, revealed, or what ever.

Because science directly contradicts sacred texts.
Bible: The sun stood still.
Science: If the Earth stopped spinning, the atmosphere would still be in motion with the Earth's original 1100 mile per hour rotation speed at the equator. All of the land masses would be scoured clean of anything not attached to bedrock.
Book of Mormon: Nephi found horses in the New World.
Science: Horses were extinct in the Americas until Spaniards reintroduced them.
Bible, Quran, Book of Mormon: A Global flood happened.
Science: no world-wide layer of silt, bones and dead vegetation left by a flood.

Your premise is in error, there is not and never has been a conflict between science and religion. There is a conflict between science and the people who use religion as a source of wealth and secular power. Religion is concerned with who created the Universe, and our relationship with that creator. It is, therefor, a matter of faith and not subject to empirical demonstration. Science is the search for fact, the concern is how the Universe works, and it is solely about empirical demonstration. I've known many scientists who were deeply religious people, and who found in science a reinforcement of their faith. After all, how can it detract from the Glory of the Gods that we have a greater understanding of Their Works? Your problem is that you are equating religion with fundamentalist Christianity, there are a lot of other options out there, and none of them have a conflict with the real world as it can be shown to work. Don't forget, the Christians rejected General Relativity when it first came out just as they did Evolution, and for the same reason, it contradicted what the Church said the Bible ment.

Using science to disprove the existence of God is ridiculous. Science is, at best, no more than a theory. It is based solely on observations, and the conclusions that we draw from them. The same can be said for how we draw conclusions about God. Using one to disprove the other will never work because neither is 100% verifiable. However, there are many scientists who believe in God. Einstein is a prime example. Check out www.drdino.com There's some good stuff there about science and God working together.

Before the appearance of erroneous Darwinism and Evolution, the critical aim in science was to confirm God's Truths and God's Creation through science, the two went hand and hand as far as the Scientific Greats were concerned. When one aborts completely from their mindset the skewed conjecture of the Evolutionary/Uniformitarian Model, then Real Science becomes highly apparent, and it entirely supports Biblical Truths and a Supreme Creator.

The Baha'i Holy Writings teach humanity that science and religion are from the same Source of Knowledge ... they agree. That they sometimes appear to disagree is for one (or both) of the following reasons: 1. Science has yet to discover the truth of a hidden mystery. 2. Religionists might still be following a superstition or invalid tradition or man-made doctrine.
For example, racism. Early religionists (and even some modern day ones) believe that humans have been created into 4 serarate races: black, yellow, red, and white. Some humans even wrote books about the characteristics that divide humans into different races. This kind of thinking was man-made because NONE of the Holy Writings and/or Teachings have taught this kind of division in the human world. It's only been since the expolsion of genetic science that scientists are able to prove that there is only one race - the human race. Now, in the 2nd millenium after Christ taught us about brotherhood, do science and relgion finally agree on this critical issue which is the cause of much dissension around the world. Now the trick is to get the rest of humanity on board!
This is just one example. There are many more from history ( e.g. all celestial bodies orbit Earth vs. Earth orbits the sun) and many more to come (e.g. evolution, the origin of the universe, intelligence on other planets, mental and spiritual capacity, etc)
Try not to let human error frustrate you. Keep your eyes and ears on what you know to be true. Science and religion agree.

No where is know in The Bible dose it sy that science is bad or against God.....All science is from God...thus all science is good. the only problem I have, relative to science, is that mankind misuses science and causes so much trouble. harming the environment and abusing science for perverted interests... mankind knows less thatn a % of God's science and has mucked up much of that. If God's science was used properly, even that part which we do know, all of the world could live in peace and plenty.

Science is the studies of an object. Our brain is created by a super power , is it possible that our brain will reach out to the super power, meaning there will still be no answer for certain
articles that even science won't be able to answer. It is for sure , science needs theory to support its answer, and it is work out by our human brain. Can Science intervent in the Spiritual world? Science doesn't mean everything. Some knowledge God knows in which we will never know.

Science and religion go hand in hand...God created the world using science as a means. Every day there are new scientific discoveries, it can't be denied. So just b/c there are things we can't explain scientifically does not mean it's not scientifically possible. I absolutely believe in religion, miracles, and supernatural happenings. I also believe that everything is scientifically explainable...we're just unable to explain it just yet (or ever).
