I think the Bible was written so that it would survive and never be destroyed through the ages. If it was written plainly, the course of action would not be as it is today. Maybe the same reason Nostradamus wrote in quatrains, so it wouldn't be destroyed or so he would not be killed for heresy. The people that truely knew the truth had reason to obscure it, hence the way the Bible is written to have hidden underlying meaning. Same reason the supposed Jesus spoke in parables. "give not that which is holy to dogs". This is not to be interpretted literally. What is a dog? It represents ego centered person who can't see the truth if it hit them between the eyes.
So....Yes when one reads the bible by the letter of the law, God seems to have human characteristics (please see.. 2Corinthian 3:6). But we know God is not human or corruptible like man, but a spirit (please see...Romans 1:23).
So.... once one FINALLY can get past the literal interpretation of the Bible, the truth can be seen and the contradictions of what God is disappears.
God lives in each of us....so the understanding of what God is helps to understand how one can love him more than anything.
And, I can not find anywhere in the Bible were is clearly says " and someone died and went to hell". From interpretation of the Psalms...hell is here on earth. Mark 9 speaks of hell and "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched". Well, what is your worm? A worm in the Bible is never thought of as one's soul or spirit for that matter. A worm in this sentence mean grub (literally). I think of it as a cut worm. What does a cut worm do that such that you wish it would just DIE. Well, it eats the nice little starter plants in your "GARGEN". It like to eat all the good plants and let the weed grow. Well, as you can tell, I am again getting at the importance of the non-literal interpretation of the Bible. You want your WORM to die when you are living in this "hell on earth". That is the start of entering the Kingdom of Heaven. The good plants represent the plants that grow in our minds from the seeds (God provoked thoughts) of God.
sorry so long.... I could go on and on

Scared of him aren't you? No need to be. He loves you. Its ok if you think he's mean or you get mad at God. He will convince you otherwise by his gentle nature. I mean how bad can someone be if they are willing to send their son to die in order to pay the penalty for your sins. A good person would maybe give their own life as a sacrifice for others, but never give their only child who they love more than anything, in exchange for a life of another.

Don't believe everything you read in the bible. It just is not true. There are many false writtings in it but at the same time there are many truths in the bible. you decide.

The Old Testament God is one cranky, surly, mean, spiteful, and judgmental SOB. Those that worship him are welcome to spend eternity with him in their chosen Christian hell. I’ll be hanging out at the ‘Smart-guy’s Strip Club and Casino’ partying with America’s Founding Fathers and some babes.

I am at the point of wondering what the truth really is. I think you are rude and crude no matter what point you are at.

Sounds like you're listening to people instead of reading for yourself. I would suggest reading it for yourself first, then make your call.
