Yep, sorry - secondhand smoke is just as toxic, and possibly more, for dogs - think about it, they have a much smaller body mass, so the smoke that's hazardous for a human is a much larger dose for a dog, and even more so for a puppy, whose body isn't done growing yet. If he wants puppy with him on the road, have him buy "the patch" and use it as a motivation to cut back - no smoking in the car or truck, or around puppy. It's not too much to ask to protect someone he loves, right?

Why would you subject a little puppy to smoke? Think of it this way- a beautiful, young puppy has a wonderful home. He/she is healthy- and you will permit an unhealthy condition to cause a problem to your puppy's health? If your husband smokes, shouldn't he be the only one subjected to his smoke? Sorry, but I love my dog very much.

YES!!!! The smoke will irriate the lungs, especially in an enclosed vehicle! This can lead to other health problems.
He either needs to leave the pup home, or swear on his life he will not smoke in the car while the pup is there.

Absolutely. A pekinese has lungs the size of your fist and here all this smoke is wafting around them. It will also affect their olafactory systems and cause them to get sick later in life because of it. be well and be "weller" to stop smoking.

Yeah...second hand smoke is bad for anything with lungs, also dogs have a much more sensitive nose than we do. As bad as cigarette smoke smells to humans, it smells ten times worse to a dog.

Second hand smoke is bad for every living creature. Your dog could get asthma or another lung disease. Tell your husband that he is harming everyone around him with his smoking.

Yes, it can cause breathing problems and cancer, just like in humans, and a Pekingese would be even more prone to problems because of its pushed -in snout. My mom's Chihuahua developed chronic bronchitis from being around her second -hand smoke, and died from heart failure.
