Absolutely! We've had some really hard times over the years and I'm so proud to say that even at 4 & 5 my kids understood that Christmas is about giving, not getting. They would tell me, "It's okay if you don't get us any presents, Mommy. As long as we spend it with you we'll have a great Christmas!" They're 12 & 13 now and my eyes still well up when I think about that! I was working so much just to keep up with food, rent, shoes...half the time we had no cable or phone service. While all their friends wanted stuff, stuff and more stuff, they just wanted a day with their mom! Now I'm at the beginning of a divorce and again they tell me I don't have to buy them presents. They just want me to get stuff for their baby sister. What great kids! I'm glad I got them a bunch of stuff over the summer 'cause boy are they gonna be surprised!!!

In extreme college, I had acquaintances from different international locations and of alternative religions who nevertheless celebrated Christmas with a tree and provides. i think of possible have fun Christmas devoid of being Christian and devoid of being hypocritical. you are able to inspect Christmas as a time to have fun love and relatives, and that's what that is fairly meant to be approximately--no longer materialism. in case you do no longer opt for to experience such as you're spoiling your toddlers at Christmas time, i think of a few modest presents are completely suitable as a thank you to coach your love and appreciation for another. you additionally could make the day approximately relatives, no longer faith, and sharing presents and having dinner jointly are a powerful thank you to have fun and enjoy a single yet another's enterprise.

Definately, I never spend more than $200 or $250 per child each christmas. Don't feel bad. Christmas is about giving and not recieving.

I think it's going over-board. What kid needs $200 stuff? Unless it goes into a college fund I don't think they need that much- nor do they need a $200 christmas gift. My kids get about $50-$80 speant on them by me every year. Money is tighter and tighter every year and kids who have money like that are more likely to blow it on drugs or something. But if you can afford something like that you may want to find out what kind of video games they want or something and spend it yourself unless you know it will be put away for their future.

$200 is plenty! I have three step children that are 18 and older and they still expect us to spend that much money. Christmas is not about gifts and I don't want my daughter to think it is. I would rather spend more on birthdays and make them special.

My kids get so much stuff from other people, I honestly only get a couple presents for each of them. I would say that is more than enough.

more than enough..... look for deals, sales and budget.
Even better if u find out what they want, u may get them that one big present they want (under $200) instead of smaller ones and that would really do the trick!! let them know its not all about gifts, just the time your spending together for the holidays is nice also!!

goodluck!! :)

I think that that is a good amount. My parents give us the option each year where they will buy $200.00 worth of presents or money. I think it would be better to give money then buy something they probably won't want.
