I am not speaking about the war in Iraq, it is a hypothetical question...

I am not just talking abou the conflict in Iraq. I mentioned nothing about it in my question, so these responses further reinforce the idea we are really doing this. Have any of you heard of a little war called the Viet Nam conflict? I am not convinced that those people really wanted to adopt democracy, as it is a known fact that are presence there was not appreciated.

They don't seem to want it because you only hear one side of the story. A strong democracy in Iraq could change the face of the Middle East, and both sides know it. This is why the course will be stayed, and why the terrorists are fighting so hard against it. Iraq could easily become the model in which all other countries in the region aspire to be, and it could significantly reduce, or even eliminate global terrorism.

The world view of those trying to democratise Iraq is that everyone want democracy. This is 1 issue on which I differ with many Neocons.

Given the fact that they turn out in huge numbers for every election despite constant threats, I'd say they want it very much.

You weren't supposed to ask that question.

Besides, only some of the people need to want to to justify the action, because only the people on our side count in the equation. Anyone who disagrees is an insurgent, and their voice and vote immediately don't count.

Thats a good question, it's not our place to tell them how to live, I can't understand it either. We had no right forcing things on people who don't really want it.
