If you downloaded the IE& and it didn't load then perhaps your Window XP Pro with SP2 is not validated with microsoft..meaning your software is not authentic, thats the only reason why your IE& didn't load or installed for you....

Wellll, the MS IE site states these as the operating systems and memory needed: Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) - 64 MB; or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition - 128 MB. So, I'm unsure what you have. It looks like if you have XP Pro that isn't the x64 edition, then IE7 is not an available download at this time.

So, if you have the correct XP, then go to the MS site and try it from there, but first do all the updates. If it's not genuine, it won't load. Also, you may have to unblock any anti-spyware you have to let all the Active X's and BHO's download. And be sure to select Run. Good luck!

OMG! I'm an IT consultant. Yes, IE7 is safe and I advise my customers to upgrade. I have already updated over 20 computers personally, and have yet to have a problem.

Now, microsoft was (and I guess still is) having problems with their microsoft update website. I suggest that you get IE7 through the download page itself, linked below.

I assume you are otherwise current with your updates, right?

You don't want to update to IE7 yet. There are a lot of problems with it right now. It has some bugs that haven't been worked out yet. Our administrators at work said if anyone upgrades to it they will have to reformat the hard drive to fix it.
