A third of the Evangelicals voted Democratic in the last election. I'd say they're moving forward.

If we read in the Bible in the Book of Revelations and study, not only the NT but the OT, we will find that we are living in the Last Church Age, which is the Laodicea Church Age. Revelation 3:14-22 The Bible also tells us through out the Old and New Testaments that the closer we get to the coming of Christ that the worse things will become. But the worse of worse is still to come, after Jesus returns and the Christians go Home with Him in the Rapture and the Holy Spirit, who is holding back evil now goes with us, all hell is going to break loose. I for one am glad I will be going with Jesus, how about you, if not you can read Romans 10:9-13 and get ready.

Has been softening for the last several years. The evanglical church has lost its weightiness on culture. During the time of the Puritans, the church had a much stronger influence on culture. But now the truth is, the church in America is more and more imitating the culture.

after the revelations of the snickering disrespect by the Bush, the failure of the neoCons to further their agenda and the Hagee black eye to their morally superior reputation the Fundy Evangelical are stepping back, taking a breather and regrouping. but don't think for a moment they've softened. those few embarrassing setbacks mentioned will not stop the soldiers of God from their waging their holy war against sin so as to save the soul of America.

We are growing in numbers, and there is a movement that is just beginning to take shape. It is a time of personal evangelism like this world has never seen before. Christians are beginning to get a burden for the souls of their families and friends, even acquaintances and their enemies. Satan sees this coming and he has never been this concerned since Jesus walked the Earth in human form.
Our time here on Earth is just about up, and God is really starting to put a burden on the Church to do what he wanted us to do all along, and that is reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church is just now starting to wake up and realize that we have not been doing our job, and we are starting to make up for lost time.
Choose you this day who you will serve, time is running out fast. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

i think that the evangelical church is softening and it is softening to much! the church is so afraid of offending people that in some cases the truth is no longer being taught in favor of political correctness and a need to please people

It's just as hard as ever, and will get harder. It will be the group that causes the United States to make a national Sunday Law which will be the mark of the beast. It is already joining hands with the Roman Church to bring this about.

some softer, some harder with a gap in the middle.
all depends who they are serving - God, or man.
god odesn't change, so if you serve God, you keep the same morals as the rest of the world goes down the drain - an apparent hardening.
If they serve man - they just become softer and more accomodating - looking good, but decaying on the inside

If you are referring to the church cutting people some slack when dealing with rules, then no. God's rules are, simply, God's rules.
You can go around taking about God all you want. Because many people think the God you are talking about is their god, but it is really the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the Bible. But, believe me, the minute you start talking about Jesus, you step on some toes. Jesus says in the Bible that they hate me and they will hate you. He also says that He is a stumbling block for many people. God Bless You!
