usually an Indian passport has a validity of 10 years. If you are going to any other country as a temporary resident..student , or work temperorily, you have to obtain a visa..Each visa is chopped on a differnt page..even though 60 pages sounds big, it will in fact finish really fast..Especially with the customs and immigration stamps in countries you have transit in(eg:If you are going to canada, you will have to get down in 1 or 2 places...At each stop, a disembarkation stamp will be chopped)...A 60 page passport is the best choice if you travel frequently..or even return to India once in a year..

Difference is the money and no. of pages . If you think you are going to travel to a lot of countries in the next 10 years, that is approximately 60 countries or taking 60 visas, then go for 60 pages one since normally, each fresh visa is given in a new page.
Otherwise 36 page should be okay.
If money is the constraint, go for 36 paged one. If your passport is exhausted of all the pages, you can always apply for additional pages with the passport office.
Good luck!

The 60 pages passport [fee: additional Rs.500] is issued to frequent travelers whose visa pages will be exhausted prior to the expiry date of the regular passport. Both passports have the same appearance; the so called Jumbo passport has additional 24 visa pages..

The difference is just that....more pages. Its usually called a business travellers passport. If you expect to travel more than 100 times in the lifetime of the passport, then go for the 60 page one.

the difference is exactly that...the amount of pages....the larger one entitles you to alot more stamps...so if you are contemplating travelling alot then go for the larger one....if your not then the 36page one will do the trick....its the same here in australia
