......that say "God" bless america? why cant it say Goddess?
or almighty? because not everyone in my town (me included) is a christian/jew, i am i pagan and proud of it :) and i have a friend (who is moving to TX) that is a wiccan, and i know some Atheists.
so why say God bless america, why say anything at all?
why cant they just say "We support our troops" or something like that and leave the dieties alone?

Why do stores sell offensive or "mature" music and video games right next to the ones all could use. If you do not like the sign that says God bless America then simply ignore it. If I saw signs in windows that said something about your belief system and I found it offensive I would ignore it. Not request it be changed to suit me. I think that is why it is called the right to free speech. Besides religion has been removed from school. You cannot even say a 30 second prayer at a football game...how difficult is it to simply be tolerant for half a minute to respect someone else's religious belief? If you were to go over seas to visit a Muslim country would you be offended by the calls to worship and request they change them for you and your friends or would you go about your business and simply ignore it? Just because we live in a land where it is okay for everyone to believe what they want, it does not mean that we should ask anyone to change things, especially on their own property, to support or negate any religion. Merry meet to you and all but I can tolerate you ...why can you not give me the same leeway?

I too am a Pagan. but the "god bless "signs and the "in god we trust" and teh "under god" really do not bother me. simply because most people just put it out as a show of support.
and thare is always the question of "which god"?

as a Pagan i believe that all gods are true gods. and i would rather that someone have a spiritual path than to have no path at all. not that i hold anything against the Athiest's and i have a few Athiest friends.

The shop owners who put up the signs are speaking for themselves, not for everyone else. I wouldn't expect an atheist to say: "God bless America", and I wouldn't expect a believer in God to refrain from saying it. If you believe in a godess, then I suppose you can put up a sign according to your belief. I won't agree with your belief but it is your right in a free society. But don't expect me to put up the same sign you do.

I bet if you went to Salem, Ma. their signs would say "Blessed be". Anyway is this really surprising? You wanna know surprising? When something happens in the bible belt they put God up on food signs. You know the ones in front of fast food places. I mean come on Burger King shouldn't be religious when they offer a triple whopper of gluttony! I've only ever seen this in the bible belt so imagine my surprise seeing it for the first time.

God is a He. Pagan gods can bless nothing, noone or no place. Atheits don't believe so they ask no one to bless anything, that is untill Judgement Day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess Jesus Christ. wiccan or children of satan and he sure has no power to bless anything. So God Bless America!!

Well, you posted this question because you're proud of being pagan right? Then they put the signs up because they are proud of being christian.

It's the same thing.
