If you put an alka-seltzer in a bottle of diet coke then quickly put back on the cap will the bottle explode?

Yes it does.
If you use a mint mento it will work better.
The best way is to do like "Myth busters" and put 3 or 4 mint Mentos in there at once. Almost doubtful you will get the cover on...

I dont know about diet coke. but i know for sure if you put mentos in a regular bottle of coke it will explode if you put the cap back on .
