Religion is a way for people to make it through life and explain the unexplainable. People need a way through life with hope and belief. It's also a way to make people follow the rules and laws. Most of the things in the bible were made into laws in modern america and the fear of Hell is enough to make any christian to remember "thou shalt not steal". I am personally of a stanist religion but I was a christian for some time. And I do study up a bit just so I can poke fun at those still clinging to their story book and fear of a firey eternity in Hell.

Religion is an organized way of thinking and acting Religion and Religious is what I define as the people who crucifed Christ. They were supposedly "religious" I hate when people say that christianity is a religion. That offends me.

Here is a definition I like very much:
"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
That was said by James, in James 1:27.

I believe it's the abstract idea humans came up with to explain why they are here today and where they will go when they die. Humans need answers, it is in their nature. So religion gives them all the answers to the unknown......that is why very religious people reject science/evolution- they want to believe in their faith to the extreme of rejecting facts.
