What I do? I mash them and put them in the crock pot on low and they stay warm until dinner. I do it all the time when I am having company. So mash them, take them in the crockpot and plug it in at her house until dinner.

I just heard today from several people that putting mashed potatoes in the crock pot after mashing makes them stay wonderful. Can use seasonings (cream cheese , garlic etc.) or not as desired. Remember heating a large dish of potatoes in the microwave will increase activity in the busy kitchen and the microwave my be in use for other cooking

I can tell a difference in taste when spuds have been nuked. The spuds are the last thing I make, so they are nice and hot and fresh. But, I understand your situation. I would either call ahead and make sure it is okay if you mashed the spuds at their place right before dinner or mash them ahead of time and just reheat in the microwave when you get there.

You can make them ahead of time but you may need to add a little milk and butter to moisten them when heating. You can reheat in the microwave just stir in the milk and butter first.

Yes. Very good idea to make them at home and then bring them over and reheat in the microwave. I would.

I do it all the time. After you mash them, place a buttered piece of wax paper or the butter wrapper on top of potatoes. Nuke in the microwave or place in oven.

In the superstore, fruits are usually selected much too soon. Some are rocks, many are wrong. Some of the fruit and vegetables are generally right (zucchini, onions, garlic, lettuce, greens, and a few others) so I'd have to go with vegetables.
