Sometimes I'll give them bits chicken from my premium McDonalds chicken sandwich (minus the fried portion) and sometimes if I'm eating lunchables or a sandwich, I'll give them some of the meat: ham, turkey, etc.

They always look at me, licking their mouth when I'm eating. I feel obligated!

Well vets will tell you no. But I have raised more cats than most vets, I do let mine have table food. I have one 12 years old and one 5 years old. Haven't had any problems, I do feed them cat food daily. But I'm sure they get tired of the same old thing. Plus cats are predatory by nature and will kill and eat darn near anything giving the opportunity. Birds, mice, small snacks, they eat all kinds of bugs. Yea your table food is safe, would just avoid the spicy stuff.

I asked my vet the very same question after I caught my kitten sneaking into the sink where the dirty dishes were, eating some of the scraps left.
According to what my vet said, as long as 80% of your cat's daily intake is cat food (wet or dry), then the remaining 20% of what your cat eats can be whatever you want, although I'm sure fried food and chocolate or sugary foods aren't the greatest. Just don't give your cats food more than once a day, and when you do, make sure it's just a snack. I'm sure your cats will be fine if you give them a small piece of ham or turkey every once and awhile.

I have a cat and a dog. I always give them little bits of what I am eating. Sometimes I go to Wendy's and buy the "chicken nugget" kids meal I get the fries and they get the chicken and the toy. I don't think that's a bad thing as long as you limit their portions. They might get too spoiled and not want their own food
anymore.

Cooked meat is fine - ham is not recommended or any other "cured" meat like lunchmeat. It has too high a salt content.
Onion is very toxic to cats so don't ever let him eat that. Garlic is in the same nightshade family as onion so he shouldn't have that either.
I think it's nice to "share" with my cats. Just remember they MUST have taurine in their food which is why most of his diet should be cat food. Taurine is destroyed when meat is cooked and it is added to all commercial cat foods.

It's not a good ideal to feed your cat or dog etc...table food because of the salt chemicals etc.. which not good for them!
On rare occasions I will steam fish and brake it up for them or give a dog 1/4 lb.of raw hamburger once a month to condition the coat if need be or to give med. to!an egg is good once in a while to!
just make sure there plenty of dry on hand an give your cat a can of wet food once or twice a day.

Do not feed your cat McDonald's. If you want to feed your cat meat, research a RAW diet and learn how to properly prepare the right kind of meat for your cat. Fast food and table scraps is NOT appropriate and can give you a gasy, sick, or fat cat.

Please don't feed that stuff to anyone, even yourself. The salt content alone is unreal. My cat always begs for green olives, and tomato, too. I'm sure some healthy, non processed people food would be fine. (avoid cat food problems, like onions, though)

NO!!! You may get away with this many times, but at some point, your cat can get pancreatitis. This will not only cost you a lot of money at the vet's, but also a lot of worry!! It's in your cat's best interest to stick to the cat food.

I would be careful. Sometimes the calories in the food could be too much and if you are going to give them some, in very little bits.
