FYI - you bleach blonde and dye dark. Yes, if you use an ash is should take out some of the gold with red, but not yellow. My hair tends to pick up red tones so I use ash which has green (green and red are opposite just in case you didn't know). I believe there is a toner with purple. Not sure - you could alway try the ash in a shade darker like medium ash blonde. Good luck - it is such a pain to get the right color. Once you do make sure you keep the box or write the color down so you don't have to go through this crazy process again.

Actually it would turn more red/orange! I just read this in a magazine lately actually, so it's a coincidence I ran across this question. A brunette (died or natural) has maroon/red undertones that make up the brown color. Because the bleach lightened your hair and turned it more of an orange brown color, it is showing through more now and you damaged the inital color! DO NOT go in the sun my dear! The sun's rays already take a toll on natural un-styled hair and makes it dry. When you dye it, the color fades in the sun and makes it even more dry! Touch underneath your hair and then on top of your head, feel the difference of texture? I advise (I know this is NOT what you want, but it will make your hair healthy again to start over and to color it correctly) to dye your hair back to it's original color, if not 1 shade darker, and leave it like that for about 1month & 1/2 to 2 months. THEN GRADUALLY add lighter highlights of the brown you wanted through your hair. Keep doing this process until you get your desired result. It will give you demention and a look of fullness because of the different shades, and it's way better than just a plain old hair color. Your hair will be healthy, the correct hair color, and HOT! :D GOOD LUCK!!!

You should use a Toner to get rid of yellow tones.
Using the colour wheel theory that opposite colours cancel out colours then hair that has yellow tones can be neutralised with a lilac toner (often called white toners)
Special Effects and Manic Panic both make these toners - just be careful not to leave any toner on the hair for too long or the hair will start to take on that colour - check regularly :)

Hello. Some brands now have toners which take away the brassiness of hair color gone bad. Try Loreal tone refiner. It really helps take away the yellow/gold tones. If you put an ash color over it, it might turn green. (Color theory says if you put a blue base over a yellow base it creates green) So you really don't want to do that! Another thing you can do to maintain it is use a purple shampoo to cancel out some of the gold, Aveda has a good one called Blue Malva. GOOD LUCK!

Unless the colour you dyed your hair with was an ash permanent maybe, but I've been told by a pharmaceutical rep trying to mix a dye with and without, later, can cause your hair colour to turn green, so be careful, good luck.

Bugger. I think we've all done that. Just go and get a toner from the chemist and that should help. Try and wait a few weeks before you die it again and use an ash or pearl blonde next time.

NO! The green undertones in ash dye will turn your hair green and you will be very unhappy! Go to a salon and have them put a toner on your hair to take out the brassiness, then have them dye it blonde again.

go to the hairdresser and and get them to both fix it with treatments and buy some avada anti-brass shampoo (It's bright purple in a brown bottle about $25 AUS). It will cost you a fair bit of cash but hey it's worth it and the shampoo bottle lasts for ages
