The first part of the Ten Commandments are related to the dignity of God which Jesus summed up with, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength."

The second part of the Ten Commandments are related to human dignity which Jesus summarized with, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" and "Love one another even as I have loved you."

As Paul wrote to the Romans, "Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."
(Rom 13:8-10)

With love in Christ.

The 10 commandments teach us how to respect our Creator, our parents and others. One of the commandment 'You shall not kill' can be related directly to your question of human dignity. To simply put this, this particular commandment has set us a rule to respect of others and not to harm - because we are all made in God's image and have moral value.

The 10 Commandments reveal our sinfulness against a holy God. These commandments are written on our hearts and we know when we disobey them in word, thought, and deed, we have sinned against God. Because God and sinful man cannot coexist in Heaven, God must punish sin in Hell. But God is rich in mercy and does not want any one of us to perish. So God became a man in Jesus Christ, lived a perfect life not breaking even one of the commandments and died willingly on the cross to pay for our sins. God will grant us everlasting life with him in Heaven if we repent of our sins and trust Jesus to save us on the day of Judgment. If you don't, then God will be your Judge and not your Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." John 14:6.
