There are still a few who are under the misconception that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they are paid. They are all unpaid volunteers.

In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them! That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Absolutely nothing

For those that say they come to the door “nude” all I would say is “you must be missing some brain cells” because no one in their right mind would deliberately come to the front door because of a Religious Organization knocking or ringing doorbell. By the way, each State has facilities, a building or place that provides a particular service, that take care of people like this, they are called a “Mental Institute.”

And to the asker, if you paid me double, then I would still receive absolutely nothing

In wondering what you should do, just take a look back and figure what the ancient Israelis did when their fellow Israelis came to their doors telling them that the religion they had believed in for hundreds of generations may no longer be valid? You just need to figure out what they did when they had these followers of a new religious cult came around, and do the same thing.

While you’re at it, consider this.

The belief in the Trinity is based on the perfection of three.

The Israelis were the first of God’s People to have an organized system of beliefs in him. But, they fell away, as predicted, finally hundreds of years later, rejecting the first coming of his Son, despite the fulfillment of prophesy that he was the Messiah, because he didn’t bring about Armageddon and an end to false religion.

Christians became the second of God’s People, to have an organized system of beliefs in him. But, they began falling away, in the time of the Apostle Paul, as predicted, finally hundreds of years later, they rejected the second coming of his Son, despite the fulfillment of prophesy that he was coming, because he didn’t bring about Armageddon and an end to false religion.

Now in the last days, what group is the third (perfection) and final of God’s People, or the symbolic New Israel, who will lead the way through Armageddon? It can’t be all of Christendom, as Christ said there would be many who “claimed” to speak in his name. Literal Israel has refused except Christ as the Messiah, so it can’t be them. So who is it that best represents all the beliefs and teachings of Christ, and not just the convenient ones?

Is it your religion?

Can your religion say they:
OBEY ALL LAWS, even inconvenient ones, like speed limits when late for work;
PAYING TAXES, rather than claiming religious exemption;
KEEPING THEIR WORD, like to the IRS on not promoting politics in church;
TEACHING YOUTH to wait until marriage instead of having sex for fun and just using protection;
TREATING YOUTH with respect, and not just a "do what you're told!" attitude;
TEACHING YOUTHS the whole Bible, and not just Bible stories, right along side parents;
NOT LETTING INDIVIDUALS get lost in the crowd of an oversize church;
TEACHES EVERYONE the same, making it easier to start a new congregation, with a set of elders;
MAKES sure every member is evacuated in a natural disaster, such as in Katrina, and not mostly the good contributors;
BUILDS CHURCHES that compliment neighborhoods, lacking large and expensive decorative features;
MAKES HONESTY FIRST. Ask 1000 movie stars the religion of their maids, gardeners, drivers, etc. and see which they say most often.

Sorry, I get a little wordy at times.

It is amazing the remarks people make regarding Jehovah's Witnesses, yet we do not make remarks about the people who reject good news, especially in a world that is so full of bad news, no matter how nasty you householders are. We can EASILY tell you to YOUR very face:

1) "I hope the vultures eat you to pieces up when the Great Tribulation comes"
2) "You are going to die and be destroyed along with Satan and his demons forever by Jehovah God in due time."
3) "Your dead loved ones are currently suffering because you are not accepting our message."

How would you like that? You would really want us to leave you alone, right? You would hate us because of such offensive remarks. Yet, we do not even think about saying these things because it is very offensive and defeats our purpose of preaching good news. Our job is simply "to preach." Everything else is up to the householder, because "Jehovah loves a cheerful giver." (2Corinthians 9:7) Just remember that there are consequences for the decisions that we make.

JW's don't preach the blues, because all you have to do is read the papers, watch the news and you will be having the blues because of all the bad news that happens. There are people who do not even watch the news or read the newspapers because of the suffering, etc.

Yet, we always come to your door and others alike and give you good news [worldwide in 235 lands], yet you want us to leave you alone. People love controversy, bad news and lies, not good news and truths. People listen and accept lies more than the truth to the point where people are confused on which is which. We lovingly sacrifice our time to preach where we could easily could be doing something else with our time. Instead, we rather go door-to-door and preach the good news because "the god of this system of things [Satan the Devil] has blinded the minds of the unbelievers." (2 Corinthians 4:4) Those unbelievers are the behind the doors that we preach, especially those who want no parts of us. Yet, we do it anyway. Something to think about.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses preach the good news from door to door?

1) [Motive.] We preach for the same reason Jesus did. He said: “I love the Father.” (John 14:31; Psalm 40:8) Above all, we are motivated by our love for God. (Matthew 22:37, 38) The Bible makes a connection between love for God and the ministry, for it states: “This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments.” (1 John 5:3; John 14:21) Do God’s commandments include the one to ‘go and make disciples’? (Matthew 28:19) Yes. True, those words were spoken by Jesus, but ultimately they originated with Jehovah. How so? Jesus explained: “I do nothing of my own initiative; but just as the Father taught me I speak these things.” (John 8:28; Matthew 17:5) Hence, by observing the command to preach, we show Jehovah that we love him.

Do other religions show that they love Jehovah God?

2) [Love.] Love for Jehovah motivates us to preach because we want to counteract the lies that Satan is promoting against him. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Satan has brought into question the righteousness of God’s rule. (Genesis 3:1-5) As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we yearn to share in exposing Satan’s slanders and in sanctifying God’s name before mankind. (Isaiah 43:10-12) Moreover, we share in the ministry because we have come to know Jehovah’s qualities and ways. We feel close to him and feel a strong desire to tell others about our God. In fact, Jehovah’s goodness and his righteous ways bring us such joy that we cannot stop talking about him. (Psalm 145:7-12) We feel impelled to tell forth his praise and speak about his “excellencies” to those who will listen.—1 Peter 2:9; Isaiah 43:21.

Another vital reason for continuing to share in the ministry is because we sincerely want to bring relief to individuals who are overwhelmed by the relentless onslaught of bad news and to those who suffer for one reason or another. In this, we strive to imitate Jesus. Look, for example, at what is described in Mark chapter 6.

Therefore, why should Jehovah's Witnesses hide good news when they can tell others. For instance, if you knew someone very close to you who had a terminal [or debilitating] illness, disease or disorder and you knew that there was a cure for that disorder, would you hide such info, therefore, preventing the person you care about from receiving that cure and living longer and healthier? Of course not. Similarly, Jehovah's Witnesses have a cure for the bad news and hopless in regards to the future, which is the good news that we preach from city to city, village to village, door to door.

They are paid NOTHING. In fact, THEY PAY to put gas in their cars and come to you. You should ask them why they come to see you the next time they call.

Do what I do. The guy that used to come door to door in my neighborhood would bring his wife along. While he was talking to me about his "God", I told her she had a nice ***. They haven't been back since.
