For a week now, I have been trying to cut out sweets from my meals. I have gone cold turkey on it completely, except for these instances, please tell me how I am doing:

I have eaten:
1 fortune cookie
Brownie thingie (I was at a brunch for my grandpas 80th birthday)
Rum toffee (I think I deserved it, I won the citizenshop award in my class, it was a small little bit)
Shared 2 vanilla ice cream scoops with banana tempura with 2 other people

I havn't eaten any sweets outside of special occasions.

Am I going at a good pace?

I have not eaten any sweets outside of special occasions.

I AM NOT TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT!

I am just trying to lay off the sugar, I know I have been eating way to much of it, so I am trying to stop!

Now it all depends whats ur age..if u r young and not obese..u don't need to cut down sugars unless u lead a very dull life... and if there is no history of Diabetes mallitus in ur family..there is no need to always trying to cut down on sugars...sugars are best source of energy cus everything u eat..body converts that in to glucose( sugar) before it uses it..so boy dont cut down and enjoy..just run a few miles per week...

First, you can control it you just said you had for "a few days". You just won't. It is called self discipline for a reason. Because it takes disciplining yourself (very self explanatory, huh?) to control your behavior. So you need to work on that. That said, if you are healthy a little bit of sugar is okay. As long as you normally eat healthy you can treat yourself once in a while. You said you didn't gorge even after going without, and you don't tank on soda so what harm a bit of indulgence. As long as you stay in control.

If you are trying to lose weight, stop it! When your body doesn't get enough calories, your body freaks out. It starts taking your mucles and turning them into fat that is stored in your stomach and thighs. So by resisting you are doing worse.

Actually, on top of everything you have ingested that has sugar in it...why not have a Oreo with a BIG glass of strawberry milk to celebrate!

It depends completely on your dietary goals and whether you are also exercising, which is another essential element of a healthy lifestyle.
