So, you get maybe 100 years, if you're lucky, and then it's over. And then ??? What hope have you ?? How about the BILLIONS that have passed before you ?? What were their lives for ?? Nobody here remembers them. What was their purpose ?? I have a hope, a promise, and all I have to do is accept... What promise do you have ??

You can hope all you want on a promise made by a mind too frightened to contemplate the vastness of time and space. In the grand scheme of things, your life and mine mean diddly-squat. Once you get outside of the atmosphere of this planet, even if we were to set off a thousand nuclear weapons, the rest of the universe would take no notice.

However, to ourselves and to our loved ones, we are massively important. They care if even a pet we have loved a long time dies.

And they to each of us. I count their tears.

To heck with the universe! Give me some old-time community spirit!

If you are talking about the eternity in heaven - it may means a lot. But if you are talking about long living live, you may not find it a purpose unless you understand the meaning of life. Whatever we done and contribute for others, if you are asking for more respect from others, it can easily hook you up in despair because not many will appreaciate what you have done in return. I think the question lied within yourself and your value on the things that you are doing. It's important to ask why are we doing this for others? If you are doing goods out of love, it's no matter how much you do, how much you hope, you are at least doing something that can satisfy yourself and bring a little joy in you. Why care if i have a short life? As long as i have do something good.

Imagine not being alive. Oh that's right, you can't. Because you've been alive. Life is a gift from God. You do what you want, have fun, fulfill your destiny, and have a blast. If you're dead, you're dead, you won't really care. Live life as it is. Be grateful. Love life. Don't dwell on the past, but be free. When you die, then you start worrying about the afterlife (which I believe in, by the way).

Life is meant to be lived.
