I live in the Buffalo, NY area and I want to buy
I am willing to travel to get this dog, as long as the price is under $1,000. Does anyone know where I can find an affordable teacup yorkie?

In reality, there is no such thing as a teacup Yorkie. It's a marketing ploy some breeders use to sell puppies bred to be smaller than average which they then sell at inflated prices.

No reputable breeder is going to breed "teacup" Yorkies. Breeding Yorkies (or any toy breed for that matter) to be "teacup" sized is not healthy for the dog. These puppies can suffer from a host of serious health problems including hypoglycemia (which can lead to shock and death), dental problems, fragile bones, internal organ failure and more. Your puppy may seem healthy but some genetic problems might not show up for several years.

I'm sure there are people who have "teacup" Yorkies that have led long and healthy lives, but why take a gamble while encouraging unscrupulous breeding. Yorkie puppies should never be sold at less than 12 weeks of age and at not less than 2 lbs. An adult Yorkie should weigh a minimun of 4 lbs. In fact, the American Kennel Club won't even allow Yorkies to be shown unless they are between 4-7 lbs.

Please research fully before you buy and may you and your new best friend have a long and healthy life together!

Teacup yorkies are real just yorkies or whatever breed being bred to be smaller, Answer: Yes it is a scam do not buy a puppy sight unseen go to a shelter or a breeder but see the puppy first so you know what you are getting, odds are the shipping is going to money for him on a puppy he never had or already sold/gave away

First of all, do more research.

There is no such thing as a teacup yorkie.

Yorkies small enough to fit in teacups will most likely develop health problems and die early. I know this for a fact, because the lady I got my Yorkie from had a very small Yorkie (about 2 pounds) and the dog is dying just from a bad tooth that may have posioned her bloodstream. They found out the dog is basically mildly retarded too.

Yorkies that small are so small because they are basically runts. Yorkies were originally bred to be 10-15 pounds. But thanks to small dogs becoming a fashion accessory lately, the demand for super small Yorkies has gone crazy.

Don't ever, EVER, ask a respectable Yorkie breeder or owner for a teacup Yorkie. They will most likely chew you out and lecture you.

If you find a breeder advertising teacup Yorkshires, go elsewhere. There is no such thing and a responsible breeder will know that. If you look into AKC rules, it prohibits breeders for advertising dogs as such.

Hi I would start looking on the AKC Website and they sometimes have listings of breeders in your area for all the breeds. I have a Lhasa aLab and a Papillon and that is how I found the Papillon website You can also go to Petfinder dot com. I hope this will help you.

Dogs in Canada or Dogs in America magazine lists all breeders, you will find one there, also visit the AKC or CKC websites. Only buy from a reputable breeder, dont encourage puppy mills.

They are wondeful, but watch out for a birth defect of the liver that many of them have.
