Athiesm IS a religion, because athiests share a common belief concerning an unseen being. The belief that this unseen being doesn't exist, is nonetheless a belief about an unseen being.

A more accurate descrpition of no religion would be nihilism, since nihilists believe in nothing, while atheists only deny the existence of God.
